Hello, I know this topic has been asked many times by forumers here, do you include printing charges in your invoices? I'm planning to start my freelance business soon, and asking around for guidance.

Here are my rough design fee estimates:

Name card - RM100
Letterhead - RM100
Brochure - RM300(A4)/500(A3)
Logo - RM500

These prices don't include printing, should I include in? Too cheap/too expensive, let me know your thoughts, thanks! smile.gif

To be frank, your design fees are too cheap.

Normally you don't add printing fees unless your client ask for it. You can mark up printing fees as well. That depend on you. Besides, you need to know a few printing suppliers and paper suppliers to to compare the printing quotation.

Ooo... Ok, so how much should I increase? Just don't want to charge too high, since I'm not sure what is the standard nowadays smile.gif

try charging using per hour basis. i.e. how long it will take u to do said work. else you'll kill us all. try something like RM100/hour. a namecard shouldnt take more than 3 hrs. so RM300 for a namecard. u can throw in extra revisions as well if ure just starting out.

also good to mention if you've giving your client options. more options = more time spent.

You may want to spend some time prepare some pre-designed templates where your customer can choose where it can be lower price.

Not everyone willing to pay the design fee.
lots of the printing company actually provide the namecard/letterhead template design for free to fight for business.

depends on requirement.

more complicate and detail should charge higher.
if just simple design. then i agree, you can start from that price.

from my experience.. you can charge depends on customer.. if they have their own idea that seems to be quite simple task for designers like us.. so why do charge over price..?

but.. if they want to change this and that and need our own artwork.. charge must be applied.. there is no fix price..
