hey, all sifu here,

i would like to ask one question.
how do u all connect the PSP to the WiFi router?
i have a linksys WRT54GSV4 router.
i had configure the setting.
but then my PSP jz cant connect to it.
it showed a dialogue,
does anyone face this b4?
icon_question.gif
*
try pulling out the router's power cable and plugging it back in.

are you using WEP?
if you are,be sure to use ONLY the first option.
you probably have 5 different slots to input the security key,the psp only recognises the first option.

i tried it a few days ago,i used the 2nd key and i couldnt get an ip address on the psp but was fine on the pc doh.gif

do all psp game has need specifc version firmware to play?
*
you dont need specific firmware for specific games, but some games(mostly the newer ones) require you to upgrade to the latest firmware available.

the reasons for upgrading varies, but some have to do with preventing pirated games(since newer firmwares have to be cracked first),preventing homebrew(sony clearly hates that),and unlocking certain features(like how GoW PSP requires the 333Mhz speed, only unlockable with firmwares above 3.50)

hi, i hope i'm posting this in the right place

i planning to get a psp from sony style/sony centre, it should be able to run any umd games right? and what does the firmware affect the psp a lot?

thanks
*
it would run any game that runs under that specific firmware.
any game that needs a newer firmware version, would probably include the firmware in it's UMD so updating wont be too hard wink.gif

as for what each firmware specifically does,i think you can google that up.

Added on July 28, 2007, 10:27 pmbtw,IMHO,downgrade the PSP,and flash the custom firmware into your psp.

Pros of custom firmware(CFW):
homebrew support
play your own psx ripped games.
play games from your mspd
etc

cons of CFW:
none that i know of.

you've nothing to lose by using CFW,and much to gain.

are there any risk in doing the CFW? i mean, like will the psp just die in the process of downgrading? thinking of getting one for myself as a treat.. smile.gif
*
yes, there is a small chance your psp will brick in the middle of flashing the firmware-but it happens with original firmware, too.
so we cant say that this problem is only isolated to CFWs smile.gif

if you're scared you might miss something doing the flashing manually, you can look up "noob installers" which basically give you what you need to just press the X button and have it installed for you tongue.gif
check this out

i've personally flashed my psp many times in the past, yet to have any problems. biggrin.gif

just to reiterate:
YES,the psp can be bricked(rendered unusable) by flashing it(either with homebrew or CFW).
but it happens very rarely, and most of the time(that i've heard) it happens when either:
A)no battery
B)user mistake

Haha nono bro, what I meant was I was hoping that the PSP would support 802.11b and 802.11g (hence, 802.11b/g) protocols. Not only 802.11g. laugh.gif

blink.gif sweat.gif i understood what you meant... tongue.gif biggrin.gif

faced a similiar problem before.
at the time,my mspd was spoilt, bitten by my dog-had a dent on it as well.
when inserted into my psp,the psp mspd light blinked like crazy-same with the mspd reader light

QUOTE(sonictheory @ Aug 6 2007, 12:53 AM)
and another problem now i got is... i plug in my button kit to replace the navigator button, now heck the nagivator stuck, kept on going up... and i replace back ori navigator back, its not in its place anymore... how? is it repairable too? guess these few day just not my luck... sigh*

someone plz lighten up my problem.... feeling damn upset now...
*

you probably inserted it the wrong way.
try terbalikkan the buttons see if the problem still persists.

dont panic or feel down.
try out different ways of dealing with the problem.
the minute you think you're f*cked, you'll lose interest in finding out the problem and you'll really be f*cked. doh.gif

i got 3.
but it isnt that easy to spot.
it doesnt really disturb you when you're playing,to be honest..just an imperfection(unless you have 1/2 of the screen filled with them sweat.gif )

But i would recommed to just stick back with the default 222Mhz since overclocking for a prolong period will run your PSP hardware quite hot and risk damaging the motherboard.

Regards and have a nice day
QS
*
is there any evidence to support your claim?
not that im calling you a liar,or anything...
but GoW and SF:Logan's shadow for the PSP will both utilise the 333mhz speed.

coming straight from 1st party developers,i dont think they would do anything to damage the system, would they?

in any case,i'd like to know if there is evidence or research or even user experience on the matter.

again,im not calling you a liar.just want proof so no one flames you for no reason smile.gif

QUOTE(quiksilve @ Aug 9 2007, 04:28 PM)

you want longer battery and the UMD spring opening mechanism, go for the old school psp.

You wan light and slim version with less battery life span then go for the psp lite.

Depending on your requirements

sweat.gif sony claims the new psp has better battery life..
err...so which is right?

the new psp minimize power consumption.
for the UMD oc, only when I play the game lagging at default speed. like Fifa07. so, each time if i want to play Fifa07, 333MHz... sweat.gif
*
try ripping the songs out.
or ripping movies(if there are any)
or ripping most/all audio(commentary and the like)

it should reduce lag.

QUOTE(mfa333 @ Aug 9 2007, 11:20 PM)
there's no harm running psp on 333mhz except faster battery drain..

laugh.gif the saddest words for the psp sweat.gif

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Aug 9 2007, 11:21 PM)
Knew that but I don't see the point for it.
For me at least.
*
using that solely as justification to buy a psp is IMO as well, not worth it.
but for first timers,it is cool to be able to play your movies on the big screen, viewing pictures taken from a camera on the big screen,etc..

for gamers i dont think it is at all necessary, but for people with a sony camera,or wish to play their games on the big screen,it's a great feature smile.gif

LOL..Yea, i somehow agree. I was actually quite surprise by how the graphics on the PSP performs. Maybe i am still in those old ages consoles but the moment i check out the games and their graphics, i was surprise that a device this small with that HUGE screen are able to generate such nice graphics..LOL..

Time to get addicted to other games already. My Bleach 3 is done, Ridge Racer is getting boring. Thinking of going for Killzone Revelation but scared i will be too addicted with it..LOL..
