QUOTE(quiksilve @ Aug 9 2007, 04:28 PM) you want longer battery and the UMD spring opening mechanism, go for the old school psp. I've been hearing people here talk about the new PSP having less batt time...You wan light and slim version with less battery life span then go for the psp lite. Depending on your requirements QS Where the hell you've benn hearing that....that is not true at all... The thing is.... The new PSP was designed to have a lesser power requirement...and thus it can afford to have a slimmer batt with less juice....so since it require lesser power...it can maintain the same amount of time switched on compared to the old psp. It the new psp actually use the old thicker batt...it can have more playing time since it require lesser power. GOT IT? so after this no more stories about the new psp having lesser playing time or weaker battery.. QUOTE(akachester @ Aug 10 2007, 09:00 AM) Well, depending on how you would see it though.. This is more like teh correct story...and Sony will actually comeout with a separate battry cover if you decide to put in the old batt,,,but have to buy it separately though...I saw a preview/review in Gamespot before regarding this issue. Sony "CLAIMS" that the new PSP Slim is going to utilize lower power consumption (new technology i guess) and will result in saving battery life = More Battery Life. However, Sony will also be bundling together the PSP Slim with a 1200mAH (IIRC) battery which translate to lower power and result in shorter batter life = Lower Battery Life. A combination of both are actually resulting in the same battery life as current PSP. Therefore, it depends on how you see it though.. One more thing, Sony also "claims" that you can use older generation PSP battery (which is thicker) to power up the PSP. Meaning, you can actually use the 1800mAH battery on the PSP Slim for a longer battery life when compared to the older PSP. One down side in this is, you will not be able to close the battery cover as the older battery is thicker. oh and regarding the tv out thingy...you can play psp games while outputing the video to your tv also and not just the mp3, photo and video...so that makes it worthwhile even more...I'm definately buying it...picture playing psp games thru the tv while at home and then...while not at home...use the psp screen...it's like having the best of both worlds. |

QUOTE(lapaq @ Aug 12 2007, 11:40 PM) so after this no more stories about the new psp having lesser playing time or weaker battery.. Yea, thats how the battery life story goes. But to be honest, not many people will look into the seperate battery option. The reason for me is, IF they are going to use those old, bulky battery, even with a seperate battery cover, it is not going to look nice. It will cause the PSP SLIM to look THICK. This might lead to it looking not nice and doesn't feel good when holding as well..Thats my assumption though.. This is more like teh correct story...and Sony will actually comeout with a separate battry cover if you decide to put in the old batt,,,but have to buy it separately though... QUOTE(leenaz @ Aug 13 2007, 08:16 AM) Riviera, is it good? Interested to try that out though..LOL...1 more thing, had anyone encountered any issue with 3.52 M33 firmware thus far? Like unable to play certain games without UMD? |

Yeah, I was about to ask the same question.
Anyone experiencing any UNSTABLE stuffs with the 3.52 M33-2? I mean, been hearing rumours about it. Heard that it's 'UN-STA-BLE' (read it sarcastically). Any experience? Or is it only a rumour shopkeepers use to 'sell-off' their UMDs with each 3.40 OE-A firmware? |

QUOTE(Cyphereza @ Aug 13 2007, 09:43 AM) Yeah, I was about to ask the same question. Well, bernard told me that the 3.51 M33 does not need any UMD at the meantime. Not sure about future games though..Anyone experiencing any UNSTABLE stuffs with the 3.52 M33-2? I mean, been hearing rumours about it. Heard that it's 'UN-STA-BLE' (read it sarcastically). Any experience? Or is it only a rumour shopkeepers use to 'sell-off' their UMDs with each 3.40 OE-A firmware? He offered to sell me a UMD at a cheap price IF i need it but insist that i do not need it at the moment. So, i am not sure whether i really need it or not. But my cousin told me, from his research, it does seem that 3.52 M33 is having certain issues like needing UMD to run certain games. So, i really need someone who is using the 3.52 to clarify this matter. As for 3.51 M33, i had tried over 50 games on my PSP and had not meet this issue until now... |

I've been using 3.52 M33-2, and so far no problems at all. Except for yesterday when I tried to delete a saved Virtual Tennis 3 game within the game (maybe it's the game). It didn't delete, black screen but home button is still working. Hmmm, maybe it ain't much of a problem.

IC, i have yet to meet such problem though..LOL...Cause i am interested in flashing the firmware but i am afraid, by doing that myself, i might cause the PSP to be bricked. Is it hard to flash on our own?One more thing, i converted an animation just to test out on my PSP yesterday and put it under the video section. Heard from bernard there is one more folder where i can put my movies in which is called MP_ROOT. However, inside, there is too many sub folders. Which one i should put the movie in? |

AVC format - MP_ROOT > 100ANV01 MPEG4 format - MP_ROOT > 100MNV01 So, you need to check whether your videos was converted using AVC or MPEG4 encoding. |

Flashed to 3.52 M33-2 yesterday and it works fine. Anime or whatever videos can be thrown into the VIDEO folder if you are using CFW and need not be renamed e.g. M4V1234567.mp4. Any filename will do. But if you are on official firmware then it's a different story.
For me, I prefer to use PMPplayer since you can watch videos at a lower clock speed not mistaken 133Mhz? I forgot as opposed to XMB's 222Mhz. Saves battery if you're outside watching vids |

QUOTE(Ninja @ Aug 13 2007, 10:07 AM) For IC, I think mine is MPEG4-AVC or something like that..LOL...AVC format - MP_ROOT > 100ANV01 MPEG4 format - MP_ROOT > 100MNV01 So, you need to check whether your videos was converted using AVC or MPEG4 encoding. As off now, i am putting it on "Video" folder instead of MP-ROOT. What difference does it makes putting it on MP_ROOT or Video folder? |

The difference is as mentioned by ffrulz, if you use VIDEO folder, you can rename your videos to whatever names you want. So, you can recognize what movie you;re putting in. So, instead of M4V1234567.mp4, we can just put Lord of The Rings.mp4. As off now, i am putting it on "Video" folder instead of MP-ROOT. IC, doesnt this mean that putting the video in the "Video" folder is better than MP_ROOT? Renaming wise, i did it during conversion time though. Now using PSP9 as video converter. Looking to get WinAvi to try it out though... |
