Dont think the fler meant that way. He was recommending what he thinks a good shariah compliant fund. And since the fund are having adjusted nav due to distribution, it would be a good time to buy as well.

Not saying "oh this fund good, nav is very low. Buy buy buy. If no buy, very rugi."

u read his post again...

"NAV adjusted...after distribution...good time to buy..."

doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Give u a simple real life example...

I own 100% of Najip Songlap Sdn Bhd. My capital is RM80m

U wanna invest RM20m in Najip Songlap Sdn Bhd, making the capital increase to RM100m

(a) Today the company give me dividend of RM8m, but I chose to reinvest in the company, i.e. the company issues new share capital to me, sorta like a Bonus Issue. So, I will still have RM80m worth of shares in the company
U invest RM20m, u will own 20% (RM20m / RM100m) of the company

(b) No dividend
U invest RM20m, u will own 20% (RM20m / RM100m) of the company

Haha I understand sir. I was "bersangka baik"(benefit of a doubt in good heart) only so that we can move on.

Do you understand why people do DCA in the first place?

If we can somehow know for sure the market will be dropping like a stone, say -10% or -20%, then it is better to move all out before it happen. No point holding onto them, or moving only a portion of the funds.

Then only move back in after the market strike its bottom...

Me, I had moved some money in on Monday... yes, a bit too early; but what to do... should I move in more tomorrow or next week, nope since I have already marked in the calendar to make a purchase only once a month. So have to sit tight for now, and wait till Sept. instead of chasing the market up and down endlessly.

Just my 2 cents... that's how I'm doing it, maybe not as good as other people here in the timing and getting better returns...

Its my first time and being inexperienced in this matter made me curious. I understand why DCA is used is the same reason why I decide to follow it. I know this is not stock trading, lol. Cannot sit quiet. Maybe I need new hobby.

My hobby is already following the news and monitoring the funds, but monitor only, no action taken. If we decided on an investment strategy like DCA and then don't follow it, then there is no strategy to speak of.  smile.gif

Hehe. Thats what happened when you have no experience; indecisiveness. "Am I doing this right?". " Should I do something abt this?" etc. Sometimes too much information can be a killer for newbie like me.

I think J passing by is already at the professional fund manager level. He already has a mature portfolio. He probably started investing when some of us did not know what a unit trust is.  smile.gif

Hmmm... I was dissing myself. Happy that J.Passing.By answered my doubts.

I'm practising DCA (20th every month) but as a newcomer, it can be so scary.

I just started about 3-month with a balanced portfolio 60-40 recommended by FSM CIS.

Ponzi 2.0
KGF
Alladdin
AnitaBond

Been advise not to be effected with any news, instead only act after 6-12 month.
