the f number on the lens tells you the max aperture you can use (smaller number -> bigger aperture -> take more light -> better option -> more expensive  )

VR means Vibration Reduction (optical image stabilisation)

70-200 means you can zoom from 70 to 200. if use on a 1.5x crop DSLR like D40 that means 105~300mm field of view

nikonians dont go out into the light

all those numbers are basically in reference to the 35mm film camera format where 50mm is considered as "normal" view. if u use a 35mm film format (this is the film roll we normally use before digital), then at 50mm you'll get the same view as the eye can see ie same size. that's the "normal" view. so if you are zooming at 100mm, that means you can see 2x the normal size

to make it more complicated, for a typical DLSR, the sensor is smaller than film. so you have to multiply by 1.5x the figures quoted on the lens to get the equivalent view of a 35mm format. so if you put on a 50mm lens on a DSLR, then you'll get a field of view equivalent to 75mm.

D40 no more, D40x coming

Pretty soon i might get the D40. I looking for the best price at the upcoming PC Fair. Now at the Nikon shop at Amcorp, pricing for the D40 is quite attractive at RM2250 with a bag, tripod, kit lense and its default set.

Do u guys think its a good deal?

i got mine from subang parade.. shope name enata in digital one for rm2250. came with bag, tripod, 1gb pendrive 50x, and a uv filter.

i wonder what bag they give you, is it the ori nikon bag?

Dear N40 sifus ,

I'm looking for DSLR . migrating from Fuji 2800z.. Kinda interested in N40 . Few questions ;

1.  What do I need for my first DSLR in term of accessories ?
2.  Where the reliable place to get this ?
3.  what are differences between N40 and N40x ?
