QUOTE(Evirober @ Mar 17 2007, 01:30 AM)
which 1 are you referring to ???

Price quote taken from Master Shinchan^^

AF-S 105mm f/2.8 VR rm2.6k
AF-S 18-200mm VR rm2.9k
AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 rm4.6k
AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 VR rm5.8k
AF-S 70-300mm VR rm1.9k
AF-S 12-24mm F4 rm3.6k
*
Noob question here:- tongue.gif

What mean by f/2.8, F4 and VR? The 70-200mm, is it how long the lens can zoom?

QUOTE(ajay67 @ Mar 17 2007, 11:07 AM)
the f number on the lens tells you the max aperture you can use (smaller number -> bigger aperture -> take more light -> better option -> more expensive  biggrin.gif )

VR means Vibration Reduction (optical image stabilisation)

70-200 means you can zoom from 70 to 200. if use on a 1.5x crop DSLR like D40 that means 105~300mm field of view
*
Thanks. This info help me a lot. notworthy.gif

But i still not understand about the zoom. 105~300mm field of view is view from the camera of what. I'm so confuse about this. rclxub.gif sweat.gif

all those numbers are basically in reference to the 35mm film camera format where 50mm is considered as "normal" view. if u use a 35mm film format (this is the film roll we normally use before digital), then at 50mm you'll get the same view as the eye can see ie same size. that's the "normal" view. so if you are zooming at 100mm, that means you can see 2x the normal size

to make it more complicated, for a typical DLSR, the sensor is smaller than film. so you have to multiply by 1.5x the figures quoted on the lens to get the equivalent view of a 35mm format. so if you put on a 50mm lens on a DSLR, then you'll get a field of view equivalent to 75mm.
*
Now i have a bit of idea about it. Need to try it out to know better. Thanks for the explanations notworthy.gif

Hahah, planning on getting mine pretty soon!

But here's a question though, anyone actually regretted buying the D40?
*
Sure no regret. I feel so happy that it serve me well. For a noob like me, there are many thing to learn about. For the price also very attractive. The major thing i like is that D40 is very light weight compare with other DSLR. The size also very easy to carry to everywhere. So D40 is very suitable for girl to use also. icon_rolleyes.gif

Dear N40 sifus ,

I'm looking for DSLR . migrating from Fuji 2800z.. Kinda interested in N40 . Few questions ;

1.  What do I need for my first DSLR in term of accessories ?
2.  Where the reliable place to get this ?
3.  what are differences between N40 and N40x ?

Thanks.
*
D40/D40x not N40/N40x sweat.gif doh.gif

1. Accesories is those lens, tripod, extra battery, memory cards and flash brows.gif
2. State where u stay, here have many forumers buy at differents place. Maybe one of them will help u find the best and closest o ur place. thumbup.gif
3. Different as wat i know is the megapixels and ISO only.As i'm still a newbies in DSLR whistling.gif . OPSS!! Also the price also.. haha sweat.gif

I'm using D40 now, it serve me well as i'm planning to get a zoom lens and a flash soon. biggrin.gif
