if this news/rumour is real, i find it dissapointing... sigh a D40, 6MP, can't use other lenses except AF-S only. supposedly 599 EURO.
anyway, no news about the D60 huh? it's supposed to be announced either this week or next week.

D40 is a good camera... for the price range that's it. get this camera. by using a nikon, you are assured that your support is good enough for the future.

QUOTE(sil3ntscr3am @ Feb 3 2007, 05:12 PM) In tat case D200 is a better camera than D80. Then again...the D2Xs is much much better than D200. Might as well save til kingdom come to buy cos there'll always be better and better cams around. Since we're talking better and better...Hasselblad just announced their new camera. Better buy that one cos it's what real professional use. That is if you can save USD25,000 in your "camera budget account". There'll be no end to which camera's better than another. Whatever fits the budget and needs. I've been eyeing a dslr and I would love to get the D80 myself. I can afford a D80 but would I need it? Not sure. But I know I definitely would appreciate the more adv functions of the D40 compared to a PnS. That's a start no?? Invest in lenses and flash gun 1st cos these acc will carry forward to your next body. That said, I'm looking at the D50,D70s as well. Want to make an educated and well informed purchase. I'm sure I'll "grow" in my photography and in the future will buy another body to go along. "Sikit sikit lama jadi bukit" My 2 cents.... agreed. so fellas.. dont get the D40... instead, save up your cash and get the new hasselblad H digital camera. it rocks!

QUOTE(sil3ntscr3am @ Feb 3 2007, 05:33 PM) By the time you can save up to buy that hasselblad, you might as well buy the whole Nikon range of cam and lenses.... "Ngo thei ni pan ta kong chai...." come on. hasselblads arent that expensive!

QUOTE(shinchan^^ @ Feb 26 2007, 03:20 PM) who say cannot shoot one years back ppl dont shoot fashion using FM camera? it is indeed harder to use the manual focus with the current dslr cameras. i find problem in using my 85mm f1.4 manual lens on my d200... hard to focus leh. but no problem when i use it on my FM2. maybe it's the size of the finder... and the difference focusing screen

the cheapest AF-S prime is indeed the 105VR...
and one can't compare the 105VR with the crappy tamron 90. ok, it's not crappy but it's ... sigh

for someone who are used to the d200/d2 controls, yeah, d40 control is a little bit of a b*tch to use.
but for someone who is new to DSLR... it's alright...
what i like about the D40/D40x is the white balance and the quality of the images are suprisingly good.

QUOTE(jayhan @ Aug 18 2007, 11:23 PM) megapixel is no big deal to be honest.... coz if u compare these two cameras over the nikon site: 10.1 mp = 3,872 x 2,592 6.1 mp = 3,008 x 2,000 just 800px diff only... it depends on ur budget actually. My D40x costs rm2430, i think d40 can go down to rm1900? 10MP has 40% more pixels than 6MP... and you are telling me that there is not much of a different? i give you 40% discount when u buy things... do you see the difference in your wallet?
