Hi Apple gurus n sifus.. Noob question here. Can the casing of the Macbook been replaced with a new one. If can where and how much since there a a few Apple authorised dealer and vendor around the town? This is bcos a fren of mine is selling his Macbook for, and I might considering buying it for my sister. FYI the Macbook is out of warranty already and it has a 'kaput' battery on it. Need to plug in the external battery to ensure that it is 'on'. Thanks for all the help. wink.gif

no problems.....everyone makes mistakes.....

if your friend is not selling the iBook really cheap....then u might as well get one from Garage Sale......coz from your description, your friend's iBook is kinda in a bad condition.....

if u insist on getting your friend's unit, try asking for a quotation from VR tech for your battery....
i dont know if it is feasible to change your iBook casing......might as well call VR tech and ask about it too.....

BTW , shouldnt there be a replacement battery program for all iBooks/Powerbooks. I guess he did not replace his. Its F.O.C , and you might get a new battery. I am not sure which model of iBook you're talking about

Hi again.. re-check the iBook already. Here are the spec:

Model : iBook
CPU : Power PC750@600 MHz
Memory : 640 MB. Memory #1:128MB/ Memory #2:512MB
Graphic : ATI RAge Mobility 128. VRAM : 8MB
System serial : 1423TU-LPz-FF10

My question is this a worth buy? The price my fren is selling is BND500 equvalent RM1250 (if the currency is /0.4). And FYI again the battery are totally kaput. How much it is to replace a new battery and hence can Apple Malaysia do a restoration/ replacement as the clip on the casing has loosen as well.

I'm soOOo into these iBook and intended to get it for my sister for its beauty! Mine? I'll wait patiently until Leopard come out as I really wanna get a MacBook with core duo now! Pls..anyone comment on it.

I think it's not worth it, you can find better spec of iBook with price below RM2000.
I sold my 933Mhz iBook/640MB RAM/80GB HDD/estimated 3 hours battery at RM2k, my friend sell his 933Mhz iBook/640MB RAM/40GB HDD/broken case/estimated 3 hours battery at RM600.
Case do make a different dude.
You can find better spec with lower price, be patient and keep on searching.

Goodluck, Cheers.
