Guys is this HONOR 7 going to update with Android M? How Is EMUI doing? Been using stock android or near stock android, how is EMUI doing compare to that in terms of stability? Im not a heavy gamer but uses social media extensively. Im also worry about the functionality of the heavily modified EMUI and compatibility with google apps. Last time i had a problem with sync-ing my gmail and hotmail using some heavily modified UI (not EMUI la).

Never use EMUI before, but many reviews in its features looks promising.

I don't have 1+2 but I have nexus 6p (better phone than 1+2 by miles) and during my short spell (just got my nexus 6p a few hours ago) there are things that H7 is better
1. Finger print unlock - H7 unlock is fast!! Really really fast and accurate.. I was taking it for granted until I start using Nexus 6p and felt slower and need a steady finger.
2. The IPS neo screen is beautiful - Nexus 6p is using AMOLED and when the brightness is high the difference are small but when you are using your phone in the dark / slight darkness the AMOLED can't really find the balance correct (color become saturated in lower backlight scenario) while the IPS screen on H7 tend to maintain color accuracy even with dimmer screen.

In just a few hours I could see things that I was taken for granted on H7 was actually very very good vs other phone (even the flagship Nexus 6p)

How do you find the software between nexus 6p vs H7? Im a fan of stock android but it is too expensive nowadays.

6p is a different beast.. Great photo (miles better from H7 in low light), fast SD810, 5.7 inch but still fit nicely and the best is Marshmallow android.

H7 in the other hand is a phone with additional feature and gesture.. Dual sim / external storage / EMUI itself have more things than stock android.

To me both are a special phone on their own.. Some things are better on H7 and some on Nexus.
*
Good to hear that. Taking photos with phone is the least priority in my requirement haha. Do u experience hiccups or spikes with usage of H7, in normal tasks like facebook, whatapps, browsing etc. SD810 is good to have but for light gamer like me won't put it into good use.

My requirements are pretty simple like receiving messages and email notifications on time, fast locking GPS, smooth browsing and fluid in operating between different social apps. Previously using some other UI giving me troubles in receiving email and messages notifications.

The next close choice is the nexus 5x but is rather expensive at rm1.9k. Using SD808 and 2gb ram only, the only good thing about it is the stock android experience. But way more expensive than H7.

Honor 7 can easily handle your needs.
Kirin 935 and Snapdragon 810 are not too far apart in CPU performance, but the Adreno 430 GPU in SD810 is what destroys Mali-T628 MP4 in Kirin 935. So, if you're not gaming, Kirin 935 will do as fine as SD810.

If you consider Nexus 5X, do consider Xiaomi Mi4C too?
Similar specs, but cheaper. Snapdragon 808 + 3GB RAM + 32GB storage for RM1.2K
*
True that about the CPU and GPU performance. That's why I'm more concern about the software reliability and fluidity rather than processing power as I'm a light user.

Came across with XiaoMi devices, I guess MIUI is just not my cup of tea, but my gf is enjoying MIUI with her Mi3 haha. Another thing is that i always have the urge to try new android version when it comes out. While Mi3 is still with KitKat if not mistaken, so I ruled XiaoMi out.

yeah, Mi seems to not follow Google's version updates.
But it's very stable on my Mi Note so far (Android 5.0.2)

However, I conclude EMUI is doing better. My gf has no issues whatsoever with her H7. She's a mid-heavy user.  rclxms.gif

EMUI fly smoothly even with much lower-tier Kirin 620 of the Honor 4X.

I'm giving you my fair assessment here (personal take so don't shoot me)
H7 as other skinned android will have these issue
1. Delay in android update (more to change than just plain launcher like htc)
2. Notifications may have hit and misses - H7 early build (B100) have issue with whatsapp contact sync but rectified with B120.
3. No 3rd party ROM

So there are few known things to expect (its not plain android that sure would not have issue) but looking at earlier honor devices there are updates and patches release by Honor to fix issues.

A very simple example is how H7 is secured and patch in regards to Stage fright but its not something you could say the same even on bigger brands like the Korean and Japanese brands.

They are trying to distance themselves from other Chinese manufacturer in the android and software space.
*
Delay in android updates are acceptable to me since more changes are required than stock android. I rather they do it properly or dont do it at all. An update that is buggy is a scarier nightmare.

Some other Chinese manufacturer like XiaoMi also keep rolling out updates to fix bugs. But some how couldn't fix one of the problem i encountered.

I don't mind frequent updates to fix bugs, in fact i appreciate that for being responsible as a manufacturer.

Other than whatapps, Line Messenger got any problem? In fact i only use whatapps, Line and fb messanger. Haha.

1)whatapps
2)Line
3)browsing
4)waze
5)fb
6)email
7)phone calls
8)light gaming

My list of favorite apps. Network signal, GPS accuracy, on time notifications and battery backup are the things I'm seeking for.

Miui7 have two version, kitkat & lollipop, mi3 & those powered by 32 bit snapdragon is on kitkat while the rest is lollipop, so mi4c should be on lollipop
*
But some snapdragon 800 handset like nexus 5 are using marshmallow already. Perhaps there are difficulties in doing so, but it is do-able. Newer products like Mi4i, Redmi note 2 and Mi4c are on lollipop d.

Guys, Im actually eyeing for Honor 7 enhanced version. Im abit concern about the multitask capability of Honor 7.

I used Mate 7 2GB ram version before, it suffers a lot when heavy multitasking. My heavy multitasking definition is like running Waze, heavy music app like KuWo, Whatapps, Facebook, web browsing, Whatapps and Line. Mate 7 suffers a lot due to 2gb ram and heavy EMUI.

Most of the time i switches between those apps i mentioned above. Sometimes the apps are forced to closed and re-open when using Mate 7.

Aparts from the above, I also need accurate GPS and signal reception as I travel quite frequently to different places. Battery life is not a concern as I always can access to wall plug and I got powerbank.

Would Honor 7 be a good buy for my usage? Awaiting sifus input, thanks a lot.

Kirin 930 vs Kirin 950 got significant differences? Mate 8 3gb version is about RM400 more expensive. Worth the extra money?

I would say yes, 3gb ram are better than 2gb anytime.. biggrin.gif

Honor 7 is also 3gb ram right? So it is up to the processor performance.
