Currently im plannig to get myself an Ipod Nano 2G. However, yesterday i found a bad news regarding the new Ipod Nano 2G. Many oversea Nano owners found out that their new Nano emits high-pitched whine or buzz. So, Malaysia Nano 2G owners does anyone of you having this problem?
Another Qs, The Nano i bought not from the Ipod Outlets in Malaysia but from seller in LowYat Forum. So can i ask for Ipod Nano replacement if my nano having the problem? What about the warranty? If the ipod nano bought from oversea and got problem when came back to Malaysia, can i send it to Malaysia Ipod Service Centre? Any charges?

The high pitched noise is normal and doesn't indicate as a flaw. Mine emits it as well, and till date it works perfectly.
As for the warranty, if there is a problem with your Nano, the best is to being it to an official Apple store. Bringing it back to the store in LowYat is useless because they are just doing redistributing business (aka middle man). And yes, if you buy the nano overseas, the warranty is still valid in Malaysia. Depends on the severity of the nano, if it needs to be changed completely, then they will do the necessary shipment for you. However I'm not sure if they will charge shipping charges though..

The high pitch noise is most likely caused simply by the capacitor/backlight functioning. I got my nano from Apple Aust. And judging from previous PC Fairs, I think there will be an Apple booth opening as well (it will be stupid if they don't ). Nah, I don't think I'll send it for repairs. There's a saying that goes - if it ain't broken, why fix it?

Yeah, i think its normal.. My nano has that sound too.. I realise the sound comes from the back of the player, when i put my ear against the front, no sound.. Well i put a silicon case over it. It helps to reduce the sound..

The pitch sound is kinda soft actually.Well, not really a big deal unless u love to use the ipod as ur pillow and u stick ur ear to it.In that case,it might pose a problem for you.

the pitch is actually the inverter that converts the battery voltage from say 3.6v up to 12v to drive the backlight. for me, its unacceptable because it means shorter life.
