classic music fan reporting in!
i've had quite a number of collection from niccolo paganini, sebastian bach, vivaldi, mozart, beethoven, joseph haydn and tchaikovsky. but my all time favourite is malmsteen. the swedish guitar maestro with classic music pedigree. highly recommended; malmsteen's concerto suite for electric guitar and orchestra. and his earlier reworks on pachabel's canon in d, lullaby and beethoven's 5th symphony. |

Erik Satie - Gymnopedie No.1
Not a very outstanding composer but his 3 Gymnopedies are definitely worth listening and his early composition even influenced some of Debussy's works. Not exactly a classical piece, it was composed during the late 19th century. A very calm and soothing piece, this is quite well-known since I've heard it played at lounges and in TV dramas. |

Anyone listen to MPO's performance on 3rd and 4th of May?? <--- (It is over)
They perform: Elgar's In the South Duddell's Ruby Nielson's "The Inextinguishable" Symphony No. 4 From all the above, I impress with the timpani duel in "The Inextinguishable" and also the percussion's music in Ruby. I would strongly recommend the Duddell's Ruby!! This music piece is very nice, and the percussionist, Colin Currie have receive (I think is) 5 ovations!! Next on the list MUST WATCH/LISTEN QUOTE 12 Jul Sat 8.30pm Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra Matthias Bamert conductor Indra Thomas soprano Natascha Petrinsky mezzo soprano Paul Austin Kelly tenor Pauls Putninš bass baritone Melbourne Chorale BEETHOVEN Symphony No.8 in F (Op.93) BEETHOVEN Symphony No.9 in D minor (Op.125) "Choral" Pre-Concert Event: 7.30pm RM95 | RM75 | RM55 | RM25 This post has been edited by tan_pang: May 5 2008, 05:01 PM |
