Hi sifus,

I m curious, for learning purpose, when u wanna do kitchen extension, contractor will do piling, then footing, then build the pillar straight up.

Actually, step by step briefly, how they do it ar?

Anyone can share photos briefly pls?

Unless your soil is unstable, may need to pile. But normally, normal footing is good enough to support the column.

Depending on the extra land condition. If already flat surface(not much reclaim works done), proper footing and normal pillar works will do.
But if it is elevated land, then better spend extra on doing piling works.

depends...sometimes developer footing not strong enough to support..especially if want do slab or double storey extension..

Ascertain if your home has piling/pilecap or pad footing for it's foundations. If it's the latter, then it's sound to assume pad footing is sufficient. If it's the former, the soil history would give you an idea what is suitable/needed.
