Appreciate all the input. The plans that suits my criteria (extended validity + low data usage) resorted to
1. Celcom prepaid 1yr extended @RM30 + RM10 for 100MB with infinite validity
2. Altel prepaid 1yr extended @RM28 + RM28 for 1GB with 90days validity

Anymore similar offer?

I don't think you can get any other type of XPAX from the shops, as any XPAX on their shelves should all be under Magic SIM.

Try asking them what Celcom prepaid card they have, and see what they offer you?

And yes, I understand that the older XPAX cards can be converted to MagicSIM.

Magic SIM is something that's just launched not long ago, so I'm not surprised if they just continue using the old XPAX SIM packs.

Just thought that when you try to activate the account, it will go under the Magic SIM terms and rates.

You should be able to understand more about it here:

Indeed, TRON would be suitable for you if your priority is Longevity and low data costs. There are downside to call costs and sms but not for your case.

Pro
- 365 days validity every top-up
- 200MB @ 3G Speed, unlimited data@throttle speed, RM10 monthly
- Daily and weekly internet available.
- whatsapp still good at the throttle speed (forget if it is 32kbps or 64kbps)

Cons
- Troublesome to get the sim pack
- Top up options limited (7-11 is the best they offer apart from online top up)
- Data Subscription Auto renews and have to disable subscription if don't intend to continue.
- No LTE.

TRON is MVNO of Digi network. Check if your area has good 3G reception for digi network.

All prepaids has their good and bad, so choose wisely.
