Hello All,

I have not researched much on other monitor brands, and I'm thinking of going for Dell U2715H as a work and gaming monitor. I have a macbook and will get a windows gaming rig with GTX970 Gigabyte.

Work is mostly excel, word and emails and will plug in the Macbook pro. For games I play mostly MMORPG (GW2, Aion etc).

Is the U2715H a good buy for this purpose? One thing I have to admit, I hate Matte screens but I could not find a quality 27" 1440p Glossy monitor. The only one available is Apple's Thunderbolt and I heard it's near impossible to connect to a regular graphics card. It may be possible only if you use software like Lucid Virtu and I hate the hassle.

I used to own an Apple Cinema display and it was gorgeous with the glossy screen. I feel matte is like watching porn with transparent squares.. biggrin.gif Maybe I am wrong and this is a beautiful display. I have no where to have a look at it since most resellers don't stock this model.

I know I don't have much choice and Dell only has the glossy 27 inch in 1080p.

Appreciate any form of feedback and if I should shoot for the U2715H?

Thanks.

The u2715h is similar to the u2515h that I have reviewed dew weeks ago. check the review at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3587199

the only notable difference between this 2 is the monitor size but resolution remains same at 2560x1440

27 inch for gaming
25 inch for work productivity. best with 2 monitors.

yes, mine got yellow tint effect on the screen.
after swapping it out for a older revision version, the screen is ok ( no yellowish greyish tinting on the corners of the screen).

27 gives a more immersive experience for gaming + movies compared to 25 inch when you are sitting up close / far back.

25 inch allows more space on the sides, and you do not need to turn your head much with dual monitor since its shorter on the width and height.

I would advice not to go for 24 or 27 inch at 1920x1080, it doesn't look good/sharp compared to 27 or 25 inch at 2560x1440.

I'm.currently using a 22inch dell monitor 1680x1050 resolution. Still going strong though it's been around 8 years of using it. However I'm in the market to upgrade my monitor. So the thing is this : Ive never had a 1080p monitor and thought is it worthwhile to jump direct to a 1440p monitor?

I normally watch movies, surf but I do game a lot. esp World of Tanks, Warships, RPG etc. I'm using a GTX 760 and may upgrade soon on GC too.

So I'm thinking of Dell U2515H will fit my requirements. If I do go for this, would it be better for me to upgrade my GC too? If so, what GC is best for this monitor and to be able to play at ultra quality?
