1. General

1.1 The Standard Competition Rules are subject to the Competition Terms and
Conditions.
1.2 Fragnetics will have final say on all matters and no correspondence will be
entered into.
1.3 All times are expressed in Singapore time (GMT +8).
1.4 Fragnetics may amend these Rules at any time. Any announcements relating to
Rule, Competition or schedule changes will be made on our website.
1.5 There will be a maximum of 12 teams, each consisting of 8 members and 2
reserves.
1.6 The registration fee per team is $40. This fee is waived if at least 4 players from
the team have reserve slots registered with Fragnetics. Teams who host ranked
BF2142 servers with Fragnetics will also receive a waiver. Reserve slots and ranked
servers will be used as collateral for the competition, and will be revoked only if
teams fail to turn up for their matches.
1.7 Teams will play a total of 2 maps, each selected by a respective team. Teams will
play 2 rounds per map. The team that wins the most rounds will proceed to the next
stage. If teams are tied at 2 rounds a piece, the winner will be decided based on the
number of tickets remaining across all 4 rounds.

1.11 Participants from outside the Singapore and Malaysian region are also invited to
participate. However, we will register these teams only if fewer than 12 teams sign up
for the competition. In addition, teams from outside the region may not qualify for the
top prize.

Version 1.0: 11 November 2006 3

3. Team Obligations

3.1 Team leaders are responsible for all correspondence with the Competition. They
must be aware of all rules and any possible changes that may occur during the
Competition.
4. Teams
4.1 Team registrations are accepted from 11th November 2006, and close on 8:00pm
15th November 2006
4.2 The roster will be locked on 16th November 2006
4.3 8 players (including the captain) is required to register a Team.
4.4 A vice-captain may be appointed if for any reason the captain is unavailable.
4.5 A maximum of 8 players registered for a team may play at one time. A maximum
of 2 reserves can be registered in the database from which a Team may use
throughout the Competition.
4.6 The organiser reserves the right to refuse a player or Team entrance to
Competition, or remove them after they have been accepted into the Competition.
4.7 Once the Competition commences, players will be unable change teams.
4.8 If a Team dissolves or leaves the Competition fee will be forfeit.
4.9 A player is only allowed to belong to one Competition Team at any time.
4.10 If a Team falls upon hard times they may opt to take a 1 round "stand down"
period where they (and the opposition team) do not have to participate in the match
and the Team who requested the stand down period will receive a loss (rather than a
forfeit) and the opposing Team will be awarded with a victory.
4.11 It is the Team captain's responsibility to ensure that all players play under the tag
as registered for the competition.
5. Cheating and Disrespect
5.1 If a Team is found guilty of cheating their reserve slots or ranked server will be
forfeit.
5.2 Players who consistently are disrespectful or abusive towards Marshals or other
players will be barred from participating in the Competition.
5.3 If free camera is enabled then it is classed as cheating for a player to purposely not
spawn and spy on the enemies' positions.
Fragnetics Battlefield 2142 Tournament: Rules and Regulations
Version 1.0: 11 November 2006 4
5.4 Players using map exploits such as getting inside walls/object will cause their
Team to forfeit the game and the offending player will be banned for the rest of the
Competition. Further penalties may also be levied at the marshal's discretion.
5.5 A player is responsible for his or her own computer/account, excuses like "my
brother was playing" are not acceptable and you will be held accountable for all
actions taken when your nickname or account is being used.
6. Mergers and Dissolvements
6.1 Teams are not required to participate in their match if the Marshal has officially
announced that the challenging Team has dissolved.
6.2 Substitute Teams may be accepted at the discretion of the Marshals, such when if
a Team disbands or leaves the Competition only up to two days before the
Competition. Substitute Teams will not be allowed after the Competition has started.
6.3 Mergers are allowed only at the discretion of the Marshals. Mergers will not be
permitted once the competition has started (as in the first round has begun).
7. Games
7.1 A Referee may be scheduled for a match at Fragnetics' discretion. An in-game
referee may not be required if the match is being recorded or monitored via console.
7.2 Teams must have a minimum of six eligible players on each team to start a game.
If at the scheduled time a team does not have 6 players in the server then that team is
forfeit. If both teams fail to meet this requirement both teams are forfeit.
7.3 A game will be considered started once both teams reach the minimum starting
number, both captains have signalled they are ready and the game admin has reset the
round signalling the start of the game.
8. Game Play
8.1 The game will consist of two halves. Each round lasting a maximum of 20
minutes.
8.2 There will be a 20 second count down for the start of the halves. When the match
starts the game admin will signal to both Teams that the game has started. From this
point there is no turning back. No restarts are allowed unless at the discretion of
marshals. The match can only be paused if there are more than 10 seconds left on the
clock before the action begins, also after this point there will be no more public chat
allowed.
8.3 The game admin will ask if either Team wants a 10-minute break between each
half. If a team requests a break then it will be automatically given and the game admin
will notify Teams of the restart time.
8.4 Teams that have ineligible player(s) participating in an official Competition match
Fragnetics Battlefield 2142 Tournament: Rules and Regulations
Version 1.0: 11 November 2006 5
will forfeit that match, regardless of the outcome.
8.5 The game needs to be finished at all times, unless disrupted by mass lag or system
failures.
8.6 In any event where a match is stopped due to lag or failure, and if it occurs within
the first round, the game will be promptly restarted. However, if it occurs after fifteen
minutes in the second round, and if the marshal feels that there is no way the losing
team will be able to make up for the ticket difference, this score will be taken. If not,
the round will be restarted.
8.7 If for any reason the server is experiencing lag spikes that would adversely affect
the performance of the teams, the captains of each team are responsible for notifying
the marshal about the situation. The final decision to restart the game will lie with the
marshal. Teams outside of Singapore and Malaysia must note that latency to the game
server is likely to be higher than teams from within the region.
8.8 Disconnections: Players may re-enter if they have been disconnected. The game
will only be paused only when the marshals determine that it will change the outcome
of the game (e.g. when 2 or more players from one team have been disconnected).
8.9 A Player may only substitute for a Team if they are registered in the database as
part of that Team.
8.10 A player who is being substituted must leave the server before their replacement
joins the server.
8.11 If an observing game admin accidentally spawns during the game they are to
suicide immediately and will add 1 ticket onto that teams final score.
9. Game Modes and Settings
9.1 Games will be played at the following settings:
· Game mode: Conquest
· Map Size: 16 player mode
· Map Limit: 16 players

Fragnetics Battlefield 2142 Tournament: Rules and Regulations
Version 1.0: 11 November 2006 6
9.2 All games will have demos recorded (where possible), which will be stored by the
marshal only for use in the event of disputes. Once the competition's play is over the
demos may, at Fragnetics' discretion, be released for general viewing.
9.3 Should a player swap to the wrong side while a match is on that player must
immediately disconnect and reconnect to the game. Failure to drop immediately will
be treated as cheating. If the game administrator sees a player on the wrong side,
he/she will kick immediately and without warning (and follow up with a message to
the teams into the game console with what happened). Play will continue without
pause while the player reconnects. Repeat incidents of team swapping will be
considered as cheating.
10. Dispute Resolution
10.1 All appeals must be made immediately to the presiding marshal or via e-mail to
Fragnetics (team@fragnetics.com) after the match is over. Fragnetics will make a
decision within 2 hours based on feedback from competition marshals.
10.2 Appeals will only be accepted from Captains of the Team.
10.3 If an appeal is denied the appealing Team may face disqualification. It is
expected that appeals will be serious in nature and teams that make frivolous
complaints will be penalised heavily.
10.4 All complaints should be made to the marshal at the time of the incident.
10.5 Complaints about marshals should be made to the Fragnetics immediately after
the game. The complaint should contain a detailed explanation of the incident. Log
files will also be accepted.
11. Competition Rules changes and omissions
11.1 EA / Fragnetics reserves the right to amend or append to the Competition Rules
at any time during the Competition if it becomes obvious that there is a loophole or
omission in the rules. Any Competition Rule changes will be discussed on the
Competition message board prior to the change, so that all players that wish to have
time to comment.
11.2 Competition Rule changes take effect from the day that they are appended to theCompetition Rules. It is each Team's individual responsibility to ensure that they areaware of any appends or amends made to the Competition Rules.
