I have a Gigabyte 280x as well on my 2nd PC and it also has the same problem during gaming.

It's definitely a VRAM issue. Lots of 280x have this problem.

I manage to minimize the issue by forcing the fans to run at higher speed at lower temperatures. Using MSI afterburner to do this.

Still contemplating whether to claim warranty for this.

i'm confuse  rclxub.gif

is it vrm or vram faulty?

if these problems occur because of vrm overheating, could aftermarket cooler like Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV can solve it?

how to even check if vram faulty or not?

No idea even after 1 year of use and so many websites visited.

I suspect the VRAMs might be overheated. Which is why I try to increase the fan speed regardless of the GPU temperature.

My Gigabyte 280X Windforce which has been giving me artifact problems finally showed signs of dying constantly rebooting and not able to game for more than 20 minutes. Even on desktop, it will crash. Luckily still under warranty now on the 3rd year in 2016.

Brought it to RMA in Singapore, expecting to wait 8 weeks to get it back. But surprisingly, the technician after checking the dead card gave me a refurbished 280x on the spot. Better than nothing I suppose. He tested the card for a while to see it working and then that was it, RMA completed. Too bad it isn't a 380x drool.gif

Lol mate be glad about that. Sent my R9 290 Powercolor PCS+ for RMA last year November. Just got my card today. They returned the same card and changed the memory from Hynix to Elpida.

Had some black screen probs last November during Dota 2 and Arkham Knight. Other games were fine.
Just tested Dota 2 and its fine now.

Hmmm which memory is the problematic ones? Hynix right?
