I'm having hard time believing that, maybe 390x/980 performance at $300.

Just tried Forza 6 Apex, the game have dynamic graphic setting option which works great for me.

Tried max 1080p setting with 4xMSAA.. feels like 30fps or below.


No time to setup PresentMon yet.. will do after work tonight.

Nah, 980 Ti would be a much better pick since you can get one under RM3K. That 970 he bought though, gimped and overprice.

Nvidia and AMD arch is two vastly different GPU, the reason why nvidia could pull 'magic' with power consumption on 28nm with Maxwell is because they gimped on several stuff like for example the hardware asynchronous unit for starters, and not forget about FP64. New process nodes will always give better power consumption for the same transistor count and arch.

AMD current Achilles Heel is weak texture filtering and tessellation as compared to nvidia counterparts but Tonga and Fiji steps on the right direction but it still isn't enough for me to upgrade my Hawaii card.

AMD promised new front end with Polaris which I really hope will overcome these shortcomings, with new process nodes they could experiment more with it but I won't be a test subject. I'd wait for Vega if I ever want to upgrade. We'll see. The only thing I worry about is there isn't any interesting games to play with this cards. New games that focused on multiplayer and always online requirement makes me puke
