no need to register nor activate. as long as it has balance in it, you can use to buy drink.
normally, we register the cards to our account for the rewards collection, like, accumulated 10 drinks will get one free.

IINM if you register these 2 cards under 1 email address, then no. If different email addresses, then yes.
