Hi guys, I am thinking of getting a N80 soon but I have some questions.

1. What exactly is wifi? I have not used a wifi phone before. I have a wireless router connected to streamyx at home. Does this means i can connect to the router using my N80 and surf the net?

2. Is the build quality of the N80 good? What about the sliding mechanism of the phone?

3. Does the phone takes reasonable pic at night? I don't expect good picture but at least something viewable.

Thanks guys!

Hi guys I am a proud owner of N80 now. biggrin.gif This phone is so great. I have a problem, I copied all my contacts from my old sim card to the phone, but when my friend sends me sms i can only see their number and not their name. I double check and yes their number and names are in my contact list in the phone. Any idea?

Because currently I stay at Singapore, my Malaysian fren contact number will be +60xxxxxxx. I find that my Singaporean fren number which saved as XXXXXXXX without the + sign...the name displayed properly... I guess this might be the problem

I have been playing my N80 for a day. The battery will last 2 days as it is at 20% now..with mild use. Not much lagging. Can open msgs very fast. Camera wise, not too bad but definitely not as good as N73. I tried N73 before, the speed is around the same, probably because my memory card is not full yet. I am glad I choose N80 over N73, so stylish and elegant. First time using sliding phone and I love it so much now.

I believe the sound quality from bluetooth headset will not be as good as normal music headphones. N80 does not support A2DP and hence u can only hear mono sound from your stereo bluetooth headset. Correct me if I am wrong.

thanks for the feeback.

Actually wanted to know is because my son wanted K800i and then thought about N80 purely because of the wi-fi feature and able to connect to MSN. But when i ask him briefly yesterday he said not interested in N80.

I just came back from work and bought M2 1GB card today. Just call him and now he said wants to see N80 doh.gif  Since he's in tuition now, can only buy the phone tomorrow.

Called my dealer (he already got the K800i standby for me) and he advised me to get Ori for N80i as one of his customer AP N80 2 months still not able to repair.

Anyway, need all of you guys to advise/comment on N80 as follows:

1) is it stable and good for internet surfing and wi-fi?
2) how long bat can last on wi-fi?
3) photos taken at night in restaurant decent?
4) video calls clear?
5) any cons with this phone.

Thanks in advance and also to survivor for replying my PM.

I have been using N80 for a month. Here is my feedback on the phone regarding on ur questions.

1. Quite stable. Not as good as laptop. It can open quite a number of pages, the connection is quite steady and fast. Only crash sometimes when too many windows opened.
2. If u use wifi , daily charge is a must. Spare battery will resolve this issue.
3. Night photo is ok. Only bad when there is absolute no lighting. The flash can take care itself when in low lighting environment.
4. Video calls is quite clear. I dunno what u mean by clear but it is limited by the resolution of the front camera which is of VGA quality.
5. Cons. Bulky and pictures taken by camera seems to have a lot of noises. I luv this phone anyway.

Now my question. I have N73 music edition as well. However I still prefer my N80 although my N80's camera is a joke compared to N73. Just that one thing, the N73ME music player is so much better than mine. It has album art and visualization. Not to mention N73me has a software called 3d tones too. Any idea if i where can download the N73 music player to my phone and use them?

Thx a lot

Well guys that's some great input. Here's some question which i would appreciate your kind feedback....

1. How about the music and in comparison with N73 ME, i'm sure N73 Me beats handsdown with its stereo speakers, but i hope it wasn't too bad.

2. Understandable the battery life is quite weak in comparison to others, but i believe by turning off 3G and non execessive use of WIFI would give it a lasting go for atleast 2 days.....

3. Pictures taken in daylight and night mode, well are they that contrast as to N73 ME. I believe the settings has to be adjusted manually since it lacked da AF features. Based on reviews, the 3 MP cam did a quite good job in keeping up. What say you guys?

4. We all know the design is simply immaculate...slider is just that damn cool tho. Do you guys faced any flaws (slider probs as highlighted earlier)?

5. Simply put i'm looking for a jack of all trades and N80i seems to be up for it. It has bits of everything and hopefully doesn't tire out with other new models. Just wondering whether the satisfaction garnered from you guys.....

6. The last qs....is it worth it when you have this special HP while there are other N's in the market.

1. I asked my fren to play both my phone with the same song. First with N80 then N73me. I will listen and try to guess which phone plays the song. Frankly I can't differentiate them. I juz "shoot". biggrin.gif so I think the stereo speaker in N73ME is not that much diff. When playing preset 3d tones that comes with N73ME, it really sounds nice though.

2. Yes no wifi and no 3g will easily last you 2 days. Average at light call and moderate sms a day.

3. By using both my N80 and N73ME, for sufficient lightning condition, both camera performs well. In fact I prefer N80 under these conditions as the colour for the N73's picture is a little too fake. At night, it is totally different story. N73 has less noise and better flash. Well heck, N80 camera does a good job.

4. The ONLY reason i like my N80 more than my N73 is because it is a slider phone. The slider still quite firm till now.

5. N80 is an all rounder phone. Balance in features and more cool looking. I am far more happier with my N80 than my N73ME.

6. Worth every single penny. The only phone i think that can only beats N80 will be N95.

Hope this helps!
