new gtx9XX wont as hot as previous gtxXXX version right?
and somemore why i prefer 5th Gen processor, it uses less power, and much cooling than 4th Gen.
i wonder should i wait till Oct for 6th Gen processor... ?
and i'm not really on high graphic intense gaming. :-(

As for your 5th gen run cooler than 4th is true only when you take tdp in account. It gives you the idea of the heat produce. Afaik, the 5th gen you are referring would be the u model that perform less than 4th gen hq\mq model.

I think is practically same because both are Maxwell where 900m series is slightly overclocked...

Unless they are GTX 980m vs GTX 970m versus GTX 880m and GTX 870m: the 800 series use kepler and 900 series use Maxwell...

Spec-wise almost same... so it's the battle of preffered brand, after-sale services and design.. laugh.gif

If you're not into High Demanding Game, there is no need to spend so much on a laptop (RM6.5k).
Just get anything with gtx960m + 4720HQ + 8gb ram will do. There is currently NO gaming laptop which comes with 5th gen processor (currently only U series have 5th gen, intel skip it for quad core series as they're releasing skylake soon)
No matter how good the air ventilation is, you will still feel hot/warm area when under load, it is unavoidable. Just make sure you DON'T FALL FOR ADVERTISEMENT TRAP. A lot of salesman advertise their "unique" features of their laptop, but it is available to other laptop as well, just with different name.
With that healthy budget, you can consider go for 512gb or 1tb SSD if you can find it.

P.S: IMHO, either gtx970m or gtx960m, don't go for gtx965m.. the price is not worth it

I don't think ultrabook will be suitable if you're going to game on it.. especially sim 4 cause that game involves lots of 3D graphic.. I not sure Intel Iris Pro is suitable to play it or not.. maybe will face throttle problem.. What I can sure is you mostly can't play on highest settings, probably on low-med settings..

Those slim gaming laptop cost quite a lot, at least for those decent one like Razer, Aurox, HP Omen, Asus G501 etc etc.. you can try Dell Inspiron 7447 if you can overlook the thickness

^It's worth to note that the GTX 950m used is GDDR5 version which is slightly slower than maxwell's GTX 860m...

I can also suggest Illegear S5. Full alluminium body, dual fan dual pipe cooling, I am using one now, so far only one game manage to let me see a temperature above 75C, but that's cos the game is not optimized yet. Was playing games like Metro 2033 full HD max setting minus SSAA, getting ~50-60fps most the time. spec also similar to what you have listed

FHD IPS display
4th gen i7( cant recall specific model )
16GB ram
128GB SSD + 1TB 7200RPM HDD
Killer wifi
970M

back then when I bought it was without GST, and i got free 128GB ssd promo, so price is slightly below 6k. So far, didnt really have any complain about it.

also, dont get too tied up with 5th gen processors. IIRC performance wise it didnt improve too much. Power consumption and also temperature wise as I recall did improve, but not really by a big margin also

cleavo based laptop cooling not bad one la, I game at non air con room also didnt get too hot wad. also, 960M is decent, mid-high range card. It can still run a lot of early 2015 games with high/ultra mixed setting without AA, SSBO turned on, so i'd say it's decent. 970M and 980M consider high end liao, and price jump is a bit high IMO

If you want smaller laptop, you can consider the Gigabyte P34W v3.
It is quite thin and light at 1.71kg only.

Ideal for working & gaming laptop.
Loving it so much.

I prefer MSI GS60 with the Red one. Looks really sexy. as i know they got different edition series. and its really good looking, powerful and very light easy to carry then. I just figure out they got the new edition now. @@.
