Anyway, I've just sent an email to Sime Darby few days ago to complain the lack of proper lightning protection and haven't got any reply till date. I hope more residents are aware of this problem and together we can get it solved:

[Quote]
It came to my attention recently that the surge & lightning protection of my Bandar Bukit Raja property (Saron 2) is insufficient as per both Malaysian & international IEC standards (Part 1 to 4 of IEC 62305). The risk is high as it involves the safety of house occupants as well as damage to costly electrical items. The number of affected residents is large, as it might involve both Saron & Nobat residents as well.

The reason why this is insufficient is due to the fact that the property was installed with a “Lightning Protection System” (LPS) which in this case is a lightning rod (external air terminal). According to IEC 62305, a Class 1/Type 1 SPD will be essential to protect against damage due to direct lightning striking the property. However only a Class 2/Type 2 SPD was installed and this is deemed unacceptable.

I’m rather disappointed that this fact was overlooked by your M&E consultant and would like to strongly request to replace the ABB Type 2 SPD with a Type 1+2 & Type 1 N SPD as suggested by ABB. Otherwise other manufacturers such as DEHN Type 1+2 DSH TT 2P 255 is also acceptable.

Full report with pictures are as attached as well as how lightning strikes could damage your house. Please give your comments.

P/S: Nobat residents if you could be so kind to share whether your DB has SPD Class 1 or Class 2 protection.

Chill la bros, maybe during the 2 year waiting period for house completion his/her income went from 8k to 10k  notworthy.gif  Anything could've happened within 2 years. Also house could've been bought by his lower-income partner (not wife/husband) and as such wouldn't be subjected to the income cap. If you see massive reno (i.e. there's one I spotted in Saron 2, which include master bedroom extension & double storey rear extension), it could be that they got support from parents, lottery, black business etc. Who knows?  wink.gif

Many loopholes.

I agreed, there are many loopholes. looking at the massive renovation on some of the houses, confirmed household income more than 8k.

guys, usually when you wanna do renovation, and got neighbors beside your house, do you ask permission from them? or inform them? for eg, want to remove the steel gate (porch)?

I went to Setia Alam TMpoint (around end of last year) and the sales person told me only Unifi is available for Saron. No streamyx package offered. I think they didn't set up legacy copper cable for Saron, only fibre cable.

thanks bro. notworthy.gif

then I should proceed with digi broadband.
