Bought and try Altel since few days ago...

I found that it has 'big' block for calls and data, 60s per block for call, and 1MB per block for data.
which mean, calling just 1 second will cost you 16 sen,
turning on data to receive or send a whatapps text message will cost you 1MB...
Meaning to say, the 300MB given free data for activation is only worth 300 whatapps text messages...

I contacted Altel through their chat service, they said its my phone setting or background apps problem...

Anyone can check on this? or you have a different experience on their data usage?

Nobody told you to turn off data immediately after sending a message. If you did not turn it off 300 message will roughly used about 2MB and of course you have to add on background app using data as well.

You are right, but charging 1 MB per block still kinda costly right, hopefully its just my phone setting problem, anyone know how to solve it...?
need a geek...

Charging 1MB is not costly for data hungry users but it is for frugal user. There's no better solution to this. Almost all of the MVNO used 1MB block for easier calculation and potentially reducing load from their server side.

Altel has its own 4G network with their own equipment. While Celcom has 2G and 3G network. Both share their networks. So in this context, Celcom uses Altel's 4G while Altel uses Celcom's 2G and 3G

What I know is Celcom share LTE spectrum with Altel

ALTEL shares THEIR 4G to Celcom. See this link for more information: http://www.soyacincau.com/2014/04/23/altel...ut-lte-network/

Note: very old article

Wow interesting. Never knew Altel are building up their own network.
