Can any sifus help me with my queries? Thank you in advance.

The discussion above actually totally relevant to your question. Who are those aftermarket cartridges are made by? How confident are you that these cartridges are of good quality? How much are you saving compared to normal Cuckoo service?

Hi all sifus,

I am newbie at here. Would like to seek some suggestions from all.
I have a Cuckoo Fusion Top at home and thinking to change and replace the 4 cartridge inside it myself to save the servicing fees.

I found many aftermarket cartridge which are compatible with Cuckoo. Did anyone try those aftermarket filter before?

Million thanks in advance.
*
Replacing the aftermarket filter for cuckoo - yes can be done, just plug and play.
If you can change to a better brand like omnipure then it will be a better filtration. Don't know if you can source it here.

I am just using 3M as a reference point, big brand, quality, made in USA/Mexico, NSF 42 and 53. Cost is roughly 600 nowadays.
Thanks for your reply, hestati. Have been reading your site start to learn about all these water filter knowledge: https://frescatec.com/pou-how-to/ notworthy.gif

Anyway, Aquasana 4000 is at RM600 range, is it also over priced? At RM600, we are not able to get a filter that is safe for direct drinking right?

I am not sure about 4000 model, I know only 5300 well. That is the one I was referring to. I think at 600RM it is a good deal, but then why is 5300 more expensive?

For direct drinking at this range there is a Panasonic, red color. Some people are ok with that, but for some there is this somewhat strong medicine taste from Panasonic cartridges. So if you taste it and are ok with it, could be a good option. It uses small UF membrane.

Thanks for your prompt reply! I think you are referring to this https://www.lazada.com.my/products/panasoni...-i14846467.html

Medicine taste !? rclxub.gif

It is 0.1μm @RM399 compare to Aquasana 4000 0.5μm @ RM599. The weird thing is that Panasonic although at 0.1, the seller advice boil before drink. And Aquasana 0.5 seller said safe to drink direct!

Aquasana 4000 (which I think is most popular model base on shopee/lazada sales number) is only 2 cartridge with an addition small prefiler. 5300 has 3 cartridge @RM899. 5300+ has a bigger 3 cartridge @RM999.

WoW. Didn't know that this pana model so cheap with 5000L @0.1 micron of filtration compare to aqua5300+ with 3000L @0.5 micron.
With extra $ can add a 1micron pre-filter for a longer lasting flow. 😀

Anyone used this countertop Australia WaterCo Disruptor before? From the seller description , it is NSF certified. https://shopee.com.my/product/30100935/7141331318?smtt=0.0.9

Although NSF certified, but it also mentioned in the spec that it will NOT remove bacterial & virus.

It will reduced bacterial but not killed/removed bacterial and/or viruses. But the entry price, kinda expect it anyway.

Good find. For a low-mid range water filter,
Thou it's not NSF certified but meets the spec of NSF, it's good to have.
IMI the 2nos of replacement cartridges are expensive for 6months usage.

Still can't see the NSF certification.

Just stated " This appliance meets the domestic water treatment appliance standards AS/NZS 3497& NSF for the following water treatment process"

1. landed or condo? Condo
2. how many pax in your household?2
3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house? No
4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?)Yes
5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth?
6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k?Below 1k
7. do you own external water filter yet? Purchased eSpring.
8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water? No. Just need a normal water filter to fix yellowish water issue at my unit.

Additional info:
Having issue with yellowish water and considering option like individual water filter for water heater/washing machine/sink with brand I found on FB called Dr. FIL.
And also, they do not have filter for toilet bidet which is my main concern considering we will use it to wash our sensitive body parts often.
Did consider 3M Mini POE but the almost RM400 filter replacement kinda expensive IMO.

You are referring to point of enter (POE) filter since you mention that you have purchase espring.
1. Check with your condo mgmt if you can instal a POE filter on the common area. If Yes, then can purchase an 4.5" × 20" POE filter for your whole condo.
It's best to use 1 big 4.5" × 20" POE filter than using 6-7nos of the smaller 2.5"×10" filtration since you need just change/maintain 1 part instead of so many parts.

Why with the same technology of electropositive attraction/adhesion does not produce the same result?

Argonide’s NanoCeram® Filter Cartridge claim that it exhibits an Absolute Rating of 0.2 microns – typically associated with ultraporous membranes where as Ahlstrom's Disruptor® claims of only 1.2 micron.

Does it meant that Argonide produce a superior product than Ahlstrom even thou both are like twins with the same Pleated Filter Cartridges with thermally
bonded blend of microglass fibers and of the same technology.

I do not see that it is NSF certified anywhere. Complies to NSF 42, but not certified. At least I couldn't find it. Waterco used to make great pool/spa filters, they have probably outsourced that one, since it seems that they are confused about it themselves.

You really need to understand where this yellow water comes from. It is possible that even when you install a PoE, you will still have it (see the article below). I am not saying "no need PoE", but you should have realistic expectations. Also, since you are in a condo, check if you can install it in common area.

Dear sifus, I'm using eSpring for many years and I'm wondering if there is any information or publication from Amway on the safety of the eSpring filtered water for infants and babies to drink from the tap?

My friend put filtered water to mix milk formula for his 7 month old and mana tau suddenly kena hospitalised for salmonella. Admitted for 11 days. No joke.

So I'm hoping for some assurance from sifus here on the above. Appreciate your info and advice.

Currently, there is no filter certified to remove bacteria from water.
To kill or inactivate Salmonella, bring your water to a rolling boil for one minute (at elevations above 6,500 feet, boil for three minutes) Water should then be allowed to cool, stored in a clean sanitized container with a tight cover, and refrigerated.

Highly, highly doubt it is from water. It is a rather big bacteria. Chances that it survived chlorine, then passed through carbon and then survived UV are close to 0. If it was some kind of a virus and eSpring was not serviced for a while, it would be possible. But just mere size of carbon pores should be able to stop it. How new was the cartridge?

I don't see anything to be stated differently. There is no filter that is certified does not mean that it there is no filter that can remove it. It is a simple bacteria of a relatively large size, no magic. You can get salmonella from water, but that is usually attributed to water from a well (not municipal) or when something goes terribly wrong at the treatment plant/delivery system. But even then, 0.5 micron carbon block will most probably stop it, UV (or any other bacteria removing mechanism) will most probably kill it. To get salmonella from municipal water + quality filter is... very difficult. Unless filter is neglected, bacteria is breeding in carbon, UV is never cleaned AND you got some in tap water to begin with (say from the neglected condo water tank). This is why I stress the importance of changing cartridges on time, especially in relatively warm tap water.
