esprings is good but really expensive as it is Amway, so a lot of markup there.

To be honest, no company is doing charity.

Wait until you find out local made RO water filter cost price from Sungai Buloh OEM Factory, then you will complain why those Coway, Diamond, Cuckoo or whatever way US/Japan/Korea brand so expensive even there is no multi-level scheme for the company to markup.

Reason most skeptical people avoid company such like Amway or Elken or Tupperware (well these companies sell via Direct Selling method) is because the commission scheme is transparent to the member/agent /consumer.

Why traditional retail business model people dont have this mindset? because customer didn't know the product actual markup percentage.

Try ask few of the reseller here. See they willing to tell you their profit margin or not. There are few reseller are LYN member that sell in brick and mortal shop and Lazada/Shopee too.

Partially true, but in MLM products, mark up is often significantly higher than in non MLM. I mean, even Apple can only dream about mark ups of MLMs. Every business is no charity, it is true. But when the mark up is 700-1000%. I always give an example of AP Easy Complete. It used to be 900RM, mark up was almost 80%, amazing profit margin, but even that, most was collected by 3M Malaysia, not local resellers.

But so true about local manufacturers. My jaws dropped when I learned some of their prices. Of course their price is not competitive with Chinese manufacturers, but they aren't even competitive compared to US/Europe...

It is true, but when tell this to skeptical person they will bombard you.
Actually nothing wrong being skeptical, coz I am one of them too last time.
But everything you heard from skeptical person(because they want you to think like them also), you just gotta put some effort to clarify it other wise, ownself rugi only.

Be it agent of Amway or simply just a user, they are all buying at the same cost price.
But still no people will trust, then no choice.

Heck, even local stores, like Onking, their margin even higher than Aeon.
Simply because for a rice cooker, Onking sell rm100 more than Aeon. rclxub.gif

For instant hot/cold go for LG, if not Aquaphor is also good.
Can try the standard filter housing with a quality 2.5" × 9.75" filter cartridges for good budget filter

1. landed or condo? Condo

2. how many pax in your household? 2

3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house? no

4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?) yes

5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth?

6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k? below 2k

7. do you own external water filter yet? no

8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water? not neccessary.

My priority is to drink water from the tap.

So far I've been looking at the aquaphor crystal eco. Wanna ask if the everpure s-100 can also drink straight from the tap?

Not at all, S-100 is carbon filter only. As far as I know, it does not remove heavy metals or bacteria. Moreover, it is Pentek... Ever since Penter outsourced all their production, the quality went downhill. Same for MatriKX unfortunately sad.gif

Budget of <Rm2K;

For Counter top can try Tupperware Nano Nature, around <Rm2K.
Bonus: Certified NSF/ANSI 53.
Cons: ~ 5,000Liters filtering capacity, more expensive on filter cartridge replacement.

If you tends to cook at home with lots of rinsing/soaking of fruits, vege, meat, etc, etc, prior to cooking.
IMO this is the best option. For DIY'er under counter water filtration.

Can buy cheaper/value for money by using a standard water filter housing with better quality certified 21/2" × 9 3/4" Universal water filter cartridges capable of 10,000 Gallons of flitration.

Hope that our forum's person @hestati, @Nightfelix & others has a better advise.

I think if you got budget 2k, you have much more option than Tupperware lo.
You also know Tupperware is not expertise in design and manufacture water treatment system.
Not sure if you want spend so much on oem and it only has 2 NSF? ohmy.gif

What other options are available? Mind sharing.

Yes Tupperware are not known for water filter. Maybe they saw a market for this but they suck at marketing on their water filter.

Don't know if the nsf certification for their Nano Nature counter top belong to the same filter cartridge. IMO this is as good as espring minus the uv.
Quite a few certification like :
NSF/ANSI 42
Drinking Water Treatment Units - Aesthetic Effects
NSF/ANSI 53
Drinking Water Treatment Units - Health Effects
NSF/ANSI 401
Drinking Water Treatment Units - Emerging Compounds/Incidental Contaminants
NSF Protocol P473
Drinking Water Treatment Units - PFOA & PFOS

Water treatment plants in the state had to be shut down 744 times from 2008 to June 2019 due to contamination, more serious threats have emerged of late.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2020...r-contamination

From yesterday 6th Aug 2020 a total of 50 districts of Petaling will face a temporary water cut.
https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2020...qRNhro.facebook

Nowadays we require a good water filter system as when the water resume operation, we will face lots of dirty water.

Tupperware is MLM, just their structure is slightly different than Amway. They thought that it is time to expand from just containers in 2005 and then 2008 hit. But if you want a big brand with all possible NSF certs, then there is 3M and Amway. I do not see where Tupperware can compete in terms of brand recognition in filter market.

By the way, if some of you wonder "why not every filter out there has NSF". I am in touch with 1 European company, they make good filters with unique technology and planning to get NSF for some of their products. Just to get NSF 42, they already spent over 200000 USD and have not received the certificate yet. They are frustrated and thinking about giving up, because while being in the process of getting NSF, they made some improvements to their product, and now it is almost like starting all over. The prices of getting NSF at system level got also prohibitive nowadays.

Yes, if you already have it, no need to think about it, just change cartridges on time.

I am looking at undersink water filter solutions, considering between 3M Dws2500t-cn vs local brand Nesh (either Life Water or Qoozo Penguin)

Appreciate any recommendations? All seems to be completely different technologies

If you are only considering these 2, then 3M hands down.
