Have some good news! We are working on a solution to be able to remove iron, including dissolved iron from water. Patented technology from Russia that does not require any reagent or salts, just a simple standard size cartridge that will fit 10" BB or 20" BB. If this actually work, this will be excellent PoE for areas with excess iron where conventional PoE can't do much. Hope the price is not too high either.

Actually, for these we may soon replace stage 1 with different and unique sediment cartridge, that will be able to remove close to 100% of metals, but will have to be changed yearly and will not be washable. It will be a perfect solution for areas with high concentration of iron and manganese. In any case, the cartridge will be also standard 10SL, so it will be back compatible with all systems and will also be offered in a form of pre-filer, so it can be installed with any other filter.

Hope it helps smile.gif

How's your solution for removing iron, including dissolved iron from water?

QUOTE(senscents @ Jun 20 2020, 04:04 PM)
KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) such a amazing product.

• controls microorganisms.
• reduces lime scale.
• bacteriostatic.
• less heavy metal
• extend/enhance the performance of
the carbon.
• up to 6years or 60,000 gallon of filtration.

1) How true are the claims?
2) What will it cost for 2.5" × 10" cartridge?
3) Where can i purchase it?
*
Do you plan to have this kdf media?
Any input on the claims, if it's true, it will definitely help me and others as well.

Not much interest in iron removing solution to be honest. Cartridges will need to be changed every 3-6 months and they are quite expensive.

As for KDF, why would it help you? The only use of pure KDF is in shower filters, otherwise carbon is better and cheaper. Carbon+kdf+silver are often the standard for good carbon cartridges anyway, they just don't always mention it.

Not sure which one to buy to put outside just after the meter.
Already have a Coway for drinking(hot and cold) and Panasonic filter/purifier for cooking.

Cheap, less a hundred in 1) or less than rm300 bullet/torpedo in 2).

I mean, what are the pros and cons between these(apart from the price obviously)?

Looking for a countertop POU water filter. Was using Panasonic filter but giving issues now. Realised not using much of the alkaline water features, hence wish to look for simpler water filter as replacement. Any good suggestions? Had a look at the coway P-07IU and 3m-ctm02...not sure is any good and maintenance cost

It's stated "up to 6years or 60,000 gallon of filtration" for an 2.5" × 9.75" cartridges with 4 pounds of kdf media.
To change the kdf every 3 - 6 monthd, then the kdf media will be very little inside the cartridge and imo it will not function as good as it should be.

As i'm trying to prolong/extend the flow at the end of life on the filtering. Don't mind trying the kdf media, if it help.
Do you think this will help on the flow at the end of life?

For Counter top can try Tupperware Nano Nature, around <Rm2K.
Bonus: Certified NSF/ANSI 53.
Cons: ~ 5,000Liters filtering capacity

For under sink, you can try to look for Pentair Everpure model is from Rm1,200 + to Rm 1,700 +.
4 to 5 models to choose from a branded company with a slightly costly replacement.

If you tends to cook at home with lots of rinsing/soaking of fruits, vege, meat, etc, etc, IMO this is the best option. For DIY under counter, can try cheaper/value for money by using a certified 2.5"×10" Universal water filter cartridge.
One of our forum's person @hestati & others has a better advise.

Edit: add photo of filter housing. Just change the cartridges to a better quality "Certified" cartridges, capable of 10,000 Gallons of flitration.

There is no way it will last that long for 10" by 2.5", by that time it will turn into cement like compound with salts and minerals. KDF is also a lot less efficient to remove various tastes and smells, unlike carbon (chlorine is not the only smell). The only real use of pure KDF nowadays is shower filter if the filter is installed at the hot line directly

Had a look at the Tupperware water filter, it will need an annual replacement of the catridge at around rm900...

Anyone used the Bacfree countertop filter? The catridge replacement is between 1 year to 1.5 year and at rm500...claimed to be NFS certified also...

If you do not mind the design. Can try to use the double housing countertop. Most will fit a universal 2 5" × 10" filter cartridges.
Price from ~Rm100 for a cheaper option housing.

Then source for a quality sediment & carbon block, which can last you for a year or 10,000 gallons filtration. Cost for both quality cartridges ~ Rm130.

Just got the Espring from Amway after making a comparison with Coway.

Even though the initial cost (3k) is higher but long term maintenance cost is still cheaper.

If you are buying than better be member, the price for non member is just way more expensive.

DWS 2500 is a good filter, it alone can give drinking water. PoE is mainly for whole house, only install if your water is really bad. Otherwise, many condos nowadays have PoE installed for the whole building.

Hi all, I just rented a condo recently. The condo comes with a basic water filter(with catridges like coway). However, the unit was vacant for a few months prior to my moving in, and the water filter was detached from the water supply and stored inside the cupboard.

Can I still reuse the water filter with existing catridges or should I at least replace the filter catridge? My concern is hygiene, is it possible that there's fungal or bacteria growth inside the water filter as the filter media is wet as being used before, and then left to dry out as it's not connected to water supply?

I will use a new filter media. No need to think so much.

Hi,

Just acquired a landed house, for rental purpose.

Looking for water filter recommendation, purpose is for kitchen use . Direct drinking would be preferable but not mandatory.

1. landed or condo?
Landed Terrace, in PJ

2. how many pax in your household?
5 rooms, rental purpose so <10

3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house?
Possibly that tenant may have babies.

4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?)
Yes, if it is simple job.

5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth?
Prefer one off payment, maybe just change filter when the time comes.

6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k?
3k or less

7. do you own external water filter yet?
No

8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water?
Don't need but would be a plus.

My main concerns are maintenance cost.

Thank you so much for your time

Sorry for late reply. I would say that if your water was bad, you would know it. If you do not see brown/yellow water every morning, it is not bad for all purposes except drinking. Other aspect could be that when you shower it smells chlorine like crazy, but then you don't need PoE but rather shower filter
