Guys,

Got my M3 ckd HS Aluminum metallic yesterday evening biggrin.gif

The car was in the showroom store for nearly 2 weeks while I waited to book a registration number from JPJ.

So many electronic functions.....need a few weeks to learn them blush.gif

So far, have not detected any "kriok" sounds from the front side.

Btw, anyone notice that the Mazda 3 in China aka Axela.. their air-con panel is the Mazda 6 version..  drool.gif  i wonder if i could buy the Mazda 6 Air Con panel and change onto my Mazda 3  drool.gif  drool.gif

Thank you JT...

Slowly 'exploring' the new car. I'm beginning to think the M3 HS has got more sensors, more electronics and more computing power than the early Apollo modules laugh.gif And it looks much sexier than those "cones" biggrin.gif

Let us know how you get along with your air-con panel transplant tongue.gif

I might be interested in the scuff plates...the red ones on an aluminium metallic car? hmm.gif
Just to "lepas geram" that I couldn't get the soul red car.....

But I have to sort out the other main accessories first...

Guys,

Had my M3 HS Al metallic for a week now. Here are some of my views and thoughts to share.

1. Powerful engine and smooth transmission (that's why I chose it in the 1st place...very satisfied wub.gif

2. For those who were asking earlier, mileage was 36 km when I took delivery of the car. Also, when you take delivery, check the tire pressure, coz they tend to inflate it up rather high. My left front was 310 !!

3. Tyre noise is a bit high.

4. Is there a way to sort of blank the display screen? At night, I feel like the interior of the car is a little too bright.

5. You have to press the brake pedal hard for the car to start when you press the start button. I had a few panic moments when the car wouldn't start (Handbrake was on, and shifter was in P, so no need to press the pedal so hard maa).

6. I drive with the i-stop switched off...don't need it. FC currently is 8.1 for Pg driving.

7. Inserting a CD is a bit awkward due to the shifter being in the way when in P, but not a big problem.

8. Owner's manual is thick and heavy...A few options are for "* Some models" but they don't specify which model (CBU? European? HS? MS?).

9. I have a habit of always checking the engine coolant temperature when I drive my other cars, but there's no such display on the M3. You get a blue led icon when you start the car in the morning. The engine revs at just over 1K for some seconds until the light goes out. I'd like to know the coolant temperature when I'm driving, seeing that M3 has a high compression ratio engine.

10. And finally, here in Pg, the car is a powerful magnet for motorcycles (especially those with all kinds of sharp and protruding attachments on the back mad.gif

Cheers,

Congrats on your new ride. You mean there is no way to check coolant temp when you are driving? How can this be?
*
Thanks...

I haven't seen any such info on the display cluster yet. But then I'm still feeling my way round the instruments. The owner's manual says if the engine coolant temp is too high, you'll get a warning message on the display, but nothing about the instantaneous coolant temp.

Perhaps an expert can help us here. icon_question.gif

You can turn off your touchscreen at settings.
You can also dim your speedometer by rotating the the switch where you use to reset your km travelled.
*
Thanks for the info. You learn something new everyday. I'll try them out.

I hope there is a way to monitor the coolant temp. If you notice the temp going higher you can do something like turning off the air-con or look for a good place to stop. Getting an alarm is already too late.
*
That is exactly what I am concerned about.

Questions:

(1)
My headlights are set to Auto. I realized that whenever I drive in broad daylight, everytime I switch to Neutral and pull the handbrake, the LED DRL switches off as well. Does this happen to other high spec sedan? And anyway to keep the DRL switched on?

Thanks smile.gif
*
I don't think so. Daytime Running Light is on when your car is moving. If it in in "P" or "N" - and the handbrake is up, it will be switched off. It says so in the owner's manual.

For the spare remote control key is it necessary to remove the battery for long term storage? I can't find any way to remove the battery.
*
For me, I just swap the two keys everyday. They're both wrapped in different coloured pouches.

If you really want to access the remote key battery, pls see the owner's manual pg 6-41.

Good news...it would be nice if you can get the info on what they actually did/what was replaced, and share it in this forum.
Moderator can even make it permanent.

My M3 HS hasn't got any of the famous 'kriok2' sounds (yet :-) but it is nice to know it is solvable.

Hi M3 owners, has anyone tinted their car with Raytech before? I met their salesperson when I was settling payment for my car. Any good or bad comments have you heard about their tint?
*
Hi,

My SA offered me a tint voucher for Solargard or LLumar at the showroom's panel shop nearby, but after checking out the shop and the products, and doing some homework, I went for RaytechCS.

The Raytech shop was new, with a very knowledgeable tauke. He demo'ed the tints and answered all my technical questions.

Convinced my SA to work together with that shop and got the voucher transferred. Made friends with the tauke and got a further discount biggrin.gif

I watched the installation and it was well done, by trained and careful technicians. The tauke then personally checked the results.

I am very pleased with the outcome, both the quality of the tint and the installation. No problems with smart-tag or GPS or my apartment entry card.

Guys, pls take note that I'm from Penang Island, so the tint shop that I spoke so highly of is in Geroge Town.
It is a proper Raytech outlet, so you can google for "Raytech + Penang" n you'll get the shop's facebook page that has all the info and contact nos, and addy. (my car is on the 30th June entry :-)
Google will even give you the directions. The cost for M3 is about RM2K, ymmv.
Or you can visit the Raytech Malaysia website and checkout the list of other outlets in malaysia (under 'news').

Cheers..

Nice aluminium M3 you have there! It should be quite a good tint to cost RM2k. Do you rmb the TSER% for your tint. And is it a security tint?
*
QUOTE(Axx8882 @ Aug 11 2015, 11:23 PM)
Hi uxb138, did you manage to look at your tint series? Because different specs have very big price difference, hoping can estimate what kind of spec can get for less than 2k. Thanks ya.
*
Sorry Axx8882, been away from the PC.

Can't remember the TSER% numbers...but the FWS is Ultra 70, and the others are 4 mil security tints (7 years warranty for all). These tints are from the previous series, not sure if they are still available. The new ones should be out. But invest in a good tint (you get what you pay for) ...cooler interior, less air-con usage (tf better FC), protection for the interior, etc. and it looks good too cool2.gif
There are many series, ask for a demo for each series, and choose the best that fits your budget, using your SA's voucher, and some nice talk to the tauke biggrin.gif

Hi M3 CKD owners. After getting my M3 HS for 3 months, i have been monitoring my FC everytime i repump full tank.

I am averaging 9.7l per 100km for purely city driving only.. Drive slowly, minimum load (driver only), hardly rev RPM high, and normal city drive with minor traffic.. not really major traffic and even use ISTOP everytime.

Hence i usually get less than 400km on a full tank of petrol @ 9.7l per 100km which is not what i expected.

Currently at 2700 km mileage already.

Any owners can comment on my FC or share similar stats for same city driving exp?
Im quite dissapointed with the FC and want to know if its normal or something not right with my ride.
*
Hi guys,

Here is a snapshot of of my FC for a trip back from KL (Setiawangsa) to Penang island; about 360km. For the trip to KL, I reset the tripmeter to trip B (hence 739km for the return trip) but forgot to reset the FC. I only reset the FC for the trip back. Three adults (1M, 2F + almost all their wardrobe wink.gif , istop off, AC at 26C, fan no. 2.
Meter says enough fuel for the trip back, but not taking chances and refuelled somewhere along the highway.
FC on Penang island is about 6.7km/100km...istop always off, driver only.

M3 HS, Al metallic, owned for ~ 3 months now, ~2850 km mileage. Fuel is always V-power.

Nice to know that there are others on the wrong side of 50 driving the Mazda 3.
Makes me feel half my age.

Would feel even younger if they had offered the Mazda 3 CKD in soul red cool2.gif

The SCBS kicked-in and for the first time I'm frighten due to weird noise and strange vibration, as the ABS and Brake was activated. A few incidents such as other vehicles or motorcycles cut lane and distance is too close, the SCBS also kicked-in. Freaked out my colleagues.. LOL..

*
Can confirm it worked for me too, three days after I got my car. Had just turned right into a road when a motorcycle cut across in front of the car, from left to right. No way I could see it coming. The strange vibration startled me too....I thought the brakes on my new 'wife' had given in sweat.gif
