QUOTE(nothingz @ Jun 28 2015, 06:07 PM) not every cardholder settles 100% of his/her statement balance promptly, banks can still make money. somemore banks earn money from renting out credit card terminal machines as well. banks may be earning profits from other activities that we may not notice, their intention is to maintain/increase its customer base and earn more money from these customers It's OK, everyone has different view as someone said. I will start monitoring this thread if it has started to divert its direction and make others difficult to read and discuss further.

Now I know Maybank executives use google search to learn about how their customers use the cards.. Like they have no such record in their system.. LOL..

HLB Wise is another option for those who earn 36k but this card is hard to get from my experience. So far my usage is like this:
MBB Amex- For everything that accept Amex and used it in weekends only Uob One -Petrol on weekday if no other choice Uob Vox- All online transaction that doesn't accept Amex Cimb cash rebate - Any other purchases after all the above.
Now with Amex revised clause, i had to figure out how to maximize the benefits of my existing cards.

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 28 2015, 05:57 PM) With majority of M2C user switching to Maybank Ikhwan, I don't think this card will last very long. why are you so pessimistic? why bother think about something that is yet to happen?

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 28 2015, 05:35 PM) What about for those people earning about RM36,000/ year? What card do you recommend then? There's no one size that can fit all. It really depends on your usage patterns. Looking back at my own usage of the MBB2Amex card, I spent more on paying for online stuff than for fuel. So I'll most probably replace this card with UOB Vox/CIMB Cash Rebate.

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jun 28 2015, 05:54 PM) The idea of using codes is it won't turn up on Google. Second, it will be harder for banks to read how one "abuse" the system. Making a particular benefit to last longer. If banks really wanted to read how people abuse their cards, they would be monitoring these forums already. The Lowyat forum is one of the biggest forums in Malaysia. If you can decipher these codes easily, all the bank staff from MBB, CIMB, HLB and whatever bank can do the same as well. Using codes does nothing to deter this.

Looking back at my own usage of the MBB2Amex card, I spent more on paying for online stuff than for fuel. So I'll most probably replace this card with UOB Vox/CIMB Cash Rebate. I agreed. I am planning to use combo cards without annual fees. UOB One for petrol, MBB Islamic for groceries + petrol (in case maxed out UOB One CB), and maybe CIMB for online payment. QUOTE(janson_kaniaz @ Jun 28 2015, 06:32 PM) or if you are qualified, PB VS as well. Out of my league.

Hi Guys,
Thank god I lurk into here after missing from here a long time. Thanks for everyone that mentioned about the upcoming weekend 5% removal
I did a brief read up with the others thread and figure out some alternatives (at least for me but maybe applicable to others).
usage of amex now: guardian watson major departmental stores major dining (pbb vs) dbkl (pbb vs, seems to be able to be paid by payonline, and posonline) mp batu pahat streamyx (pbb vs, tm.com.my? posonline?) unifi (pbb vs, tm.com.my?) tnb (pbb vs, posonline) telekom (pbb vs, posonline)
on a side note, since i'm researching, i've figured out posonline (couple with pbb vs) can pay alot more bills, like: mb johor bahru iwk syabas syarikat air johor
hopefully those can get pbb vs 6% online, "thanks" to mbb for letting me research
may switch my existing HLB WISE card category from Groceries to pharmacies/departmental, since pbb vs covers groceries 6% and the frequency i did pharmacies could be more than groceries, which is not that often.

Even without 5% cashback for everything, still a lot will keep it to use for dining and collect 5x TP. Of course MBB already forecast what the impact before implement it. Do you think they will simply make decision without having a comprehensive data? This post has been edited by maskedchan: Jun 28 2015, 07:46 PM

The 5x point = 1.xx% cash back worth it meh? Negative because I feel Maybank is becoming greedy and now, no point for my family to apply. If competitor, why list out the maybank Islamic card for groceries use?

Everyone is free to give suggestions in this forum right.
