Just my 2 cents in this matter, (from someone who has used both TP-Link and Asus):
1) 1st TP-Link model: WR841ND
It was good and fast for the first 9 months, but after that the wireless signal keeps getting weaker, and always disconnect. I guessed that the 2.4 channels were getting crowded in my neighbourhood, so I changed to...
2) 2nd TP-Link: WR1043ND
Again, it was good in the beginning but later on, keeps getting hard to maintain the connection via wireless. Need to reset on a daily basis to maintain any sort of wireless connections.
3) 3rd Asus: RT-AC68U
Got this model at a very sweet price, while travelling overseas. So far, it has none of the issues that TP-Link have. And it runs cool and higher wireless speed too, plus Unifi settings comes by default even though I bought this model from overseas. Quite satisfied with the performance and stability.
