Bro i used the old DLINK router, stable and nice. This is the thing u need to do, get a laptop cooler usb type, Plug in the usb laptop cooler and put the on the cooler.

No overheat issues on 5 year operation, the only issues clean the fan and the modem every 6 months. because of dust

With the latest firmware update (9.0.0.4.380_2928) for my RT-N12D1, I am now able to access my router remotely using the ASUS Router Android App on my LG smartphone.

The latest firmware also comes with a new feature called bandwidth limiter, where we can limit the maximum bandwidth for selected clients on the network. A great feature to have. smile.gif

To get the TP-Link C2600 to work, you have to enable "IPTV - unifi".
Hope this info is useful to someone. Took me much time to resolve this issue, sorry if posted before.

RT-N18U is the best among all the N-series Asus routers but it doesn't has 5GHz 802.11ac.

Wireless AC is not common use even for me, I'm using RT-AC55UHP but the AC signal range is narrow compare to N signal.

Wireless AC has faster speed but narrow range, wireless N has slower speed but wider range.

RT-N18U should performs better and more stable than my RT-AC55UHP because this router has 256MB RAM. It has faster 2.4GHz wifi speed up to 600mbps.

Consider Mikrotik routers, very powerful, easy to setup, lotsa features but hard to configure more advanced ones.

Hi,

After upgrading your RT-N12D1 to latest firmware (9.0.0.4.380_2928), does it still have the UniFi profile and IPTV compatibility ? Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for confirming that the new Firmware will not break the UniFi.
Cause the newer Firmware may not have TM UniFi compatibility.
Cheers !!!

Hi guys,

1. Is Asus RT-N12HP good enough for a 3 sty house? Will be shifting house soon, currently using stock modem from TM, not strong enough even for my condo.

2. For 3 sty house, if my tv set is on the ground floor, can i arrange for the router to be placed at the 1st floor? How would they set up that?

Thanks!

Conclusion:[U]

1) If you don't care or never going to use the IPTV provided, TP-Link would be good enough. Relatively cheaper yet decent with good signal strength.
2) If you are watching the IPTV, please avoid TP-Link and get an Asus.

Full story here. [U]
I live in a double storey terrace house. The router provided by Unifi not strong enough to cover the first floor. So I decided to get a new router on my own.

First, I bought TP-Link WR841HP. The signal strength is good. Good enough to cover every corner of my house (both ground and first floor) with stable wifi connection. But the problem is, even though it's Unifi compatible, it doesn't seem to support IPTV. Some channels can only be viewed for like 5 mins then the screen goes completely off without connection. Other channels only show black screen. In short, non of the channels are actually working.

So I called up for Unifi support (I spent 5 days just to lodged a report. On the fifth day it took me 3.5 hours non stop calling and waiting on the line just to speak to a manager. A very frustrating experience). Then after bloody 2 weeks time of waiting, I managed to talk to an Unifi field technician.
His explanation is short and simple. Get an Asus router.

So I bought Asus RT-N12HP. After using for two days, so far so good.
Wifi connection strong and stable. IPTV works perfectly fine.

TP Link AC 1200 vs d-link dir850L. Which is better? Both are standard Unifi routers.
