looks beautiful! when isit gona be released? eidt: released date to be announced.

i read more about the game. seems like its more of a single player experience more than anything. you're not going to meet any other real player in the game. everything in the game is generated on the fly. meaning when you go to a planet, it is generated as it is solely because you are there. When you leave, it will be gone. but when you return it will also return.

not so hype liao.

I read that the game will be $60. How come it's only RM105?
Should I buy before they correct the pricing?

steam suggest regional pricing, it up to the dev to follow or not, which they did

our region price is always half or better price then US region

PLEASE NOTE: This is not kept up to date due to word limits, please check the up-to-date version in the Information Archive: http://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/wiki/archive
No Man’s Sky Features:

General:
• It’s a science fiction game
• Coming to PC, but will be a timed exclusive for the PS4 Edge
• Almost everything is Procedurally Generated. Ships, Plants, Animals, Planets etc, meaning there are going to be a very large number of variations of each of those things. All the variations will come from a base model though, and there will most likely be a lot of base models in each category. Edge
• No saved games. The game will be saved all the time as you go along, but you can’t save and load games. If you die, then you will have to rebuild from where you are in the universe. You’ll never have to go back to the start and try again Rock, Paper, Shotgun
• Uses an alternative periodic table to help create environmental diversity Edge
• There will be a narrative, with a reason for the player’s presence and their activities, and details of various races that preceded you. You won’t be told the narrative, it’s up to you to explore and piece it all together and come up with your own interpretations Edge
• The Atlas will be an important part of the lore IGN Video Interview
• There will be an antagonist of sorts - the Malevolent Force Edge
• Don’t expect cutscenes, dialogues or much text within the game. Edge
• More extensive terrain deformation, ground vehicles and a more traditional multiplayer will come later Edge
• The only release date hint has been that it is “Coming Soon-ish” (as of E3). There have been no confirmations as to what year it will be released, so 2015 that most websites mention is just speculation right now. So they know what their release date is, but they don’t want to announce it until they are sure they can meet it IGN Video Interview

Gameplay:
• Can be affiliated with different factions, however you’ll never have indications of this. It’ll simply be that if you destroy ships of one faction, then it won’t like you, or you could help it and it will Edge
• If you have a good status and affiliation, then you will be able to call on AI wingmen (Using D-pad) Edge
• The alternative periodic table ties directly into the game’s use of resources, which are used to improve your avatar’s suit and your weapon, and can be traded at space stations to earn money to upgrade your craft, or buy a new one Edge
• Resources can be combined Edge
• There won’t be any quests or missions to go on. It’ll be up to you to decide what you want to do. The hope is that your natural curiosity and the richness of the worlds presented will be enough to keep you interested - this is a game about exploration Edge
• Fun is put above scientific accuracy. Flying between planets won’t be long and monotonous, and neither will flying out of an atmosphere Edge
• There is an in-game encyclopaedia where you can view all the rare creatures you’ve scanned once uploaded Edge
• It’s basically up to you how you play. The universe is a living breathing place that just works. Shipping lanes, trade routes, freighters, space stations. Planets have ecologies. IGN Video Interview
• Not an MMO. Everyone will be very far away from each other. But you will feel the impact of other players IGN Video Interview
• It’s been mentioned that you can run into other players, but it’ll be very rare, and the details are very unclear right now. For example “there is the ability to communicate and work with other people” is something Sean said. He also mentions that he is inspired by how Journey and Dark Souls do it. So if you run into another player, you won’t know who they are. Gamespot Video Interview
• It’ll always be first person VGX Video Interview
• This isn’t a game about staying on one planet and setting up shop, this isn’t core to the game. You can stay on one planet if you want though, it’s up to you Gamespot Video Interview
• There will be a compelling reason to head towards the centre of the galaxy, as well as an ending that will provide you with a sense of closure. But there will be a reason to continue playing after that ending Edge
• You don't have an inventory, but you do have a sort of bank account. Giant Bomb (around 31:50 time)
• Any employment in the game will net you money and you can use this to buy equipment Trusted Reviews
• There will be ancient artefacts for you to find which could reveal the secrets of the universe. Homepage

Universe:
• Same universe for everyone Edge Online
• Everyone starts in their own solar system, so people will be very far away from one another to begin with. Trusted Reviews
• Only significant events are shared between people. So for example, killing a single animal won’t be shared. It’ll always be dead for you though. But if you wipe out an entire species, then that would be shared with everyone else Sony Video Interview
• There is an offline mode, which would mean that you wouldn’t see anyone else’s discoveries Edge
• Made up of multiple galaxies Stuff and Edge Online
• The planets within the universe will have a 10% chance of having life on them, with 90% of them having no life on at all. Of the 10% that does have life, 90% of that will be primitive and boring. So the lush garden worlds with more evolved life forms on will be rare The Verge
• There will be lots of barren planets, but they can still have valuable resources on Edge
• Planets will generally only have one type of resource on Edge
• "In every solar system there is one core thing that you can do which is of great significance to that solar system. And that is shared among everyone, and fundamentally changes that solar system, and people can choose whether or not to do that. And there are a number of mechanisms like that, which create emergent gameplay." Edge Online
• How planets are created will be based on some simple rules. For example, the distance from the sun will determine the likeliness of there being moisture. The type of sun (Yellow Sun, Red Dwarf, Red Giant etc) will affect the quality of light on the planets. The colour of the water in the atmosphere will derive from what liquid it is. MIT Tech Review

Ships:
• You start with a lifepod ship, without a hyperdrive. So you’ll have to get money to buy a better ship before you can really begin exploring the universe The Verge
• Can enter a ship almost instantly, without any laborious animations. (using Triangle) Edge
• You don’t get massive ships - you will stay in quite small ships The Sixth Axis
• You can only buy ships that are docked at space stations The Verge
• There are three main classes of ships: Fighter, Trader and Explorer Edge
• Each class has multiple prototypes Edge
• Fighters are light and symmetrical Edge
• Trader craft tend to be bulkier and slower, but with heavier weapons Edge
• Explorer ships will have much better hyperdrives and stealth capabilities, allowing pacifists to run from every fight Edge
• Each ship will have between one and three different armaments attached, and you’ll be able to upgrade them. Edge
• Enhancements are hinted to be more interesting than simply more power or a faster rate of fire Edge
• They are not defined in the game as a specific class, but it should be obvious by the visible hints what a craft is designed for Edge
• A certain type of ship doesn’t restrict you to a certain path, but there are of course some ships more suited to certain tasks than other. But you’ll always be able to change to a different type of ship Edge
• The cockpit of the ship will be the lifepod, so if the ship is destroyed then you go back to a lifepod and you’ve lost that ship. Rock, Paper, Shotgun First Look and Rock, Paper, Shotgun Interview
• You will have the equivalent of a whistle to call your ship over, so long as it’s close by Edge
• After a while, the wear and tear on your craft is clearly visible, helping you to form an emotional attachment to your beaten-up old ships Edge
• There’s a generous targeting system that only requires you to point your nose near a bogey to loose off a missile or two - you don’t need to be really accurate Edge
• Can “pull low above the surface and climb out in mid-air, before returning to the cockpit and flying around some more” Edge
• Landing will be simple and straightforward Edge
• Space combat will be arcadey Edge
• Better ships will be found further into the galaxy, where combat will also be harder The Sixth Axis
• Fuel will be really expensive, and is used to travel from one solar system to the next, like a hyper jump. The Sixth Axis
• A quick and cheap way to get fuel is to go down to a planet and do some mining, but you can also make money other ways and use that buy fuel. The Sixth Axis

Planets:
• Planet sized planets Sony E3 Video Interview
• On the ground you can have a jetpack, which will need to be earned. (Controlled with the X button) The Verge
• You’ll have a minimap which will show points of interest, such as resource rich areas and landmarks that you or others have uploaded. Won’t know what it is until you get there though Edge
• Other points of interest include crashed ships, beacons, something to discover like mountain ranges, a vast lake, new species of creature. Playstation Blog
• Can name things that you discover first, such as plants, planets, creatures etc. But they will all have latin names by default, which will appear larger than the player names Edge
• Suits and weapons can only be upgraded at trading posts on planets The Sixth Axis
• Upgrades include allowing you to breathe underwater for longer, or survive in toxic environments etc Edge
• You will have a multi-tool, which will act as a scanner, weapon and mining tool. (Square to use scanner) The Sixth Axis
• There are grenade like plasma balls Edge
• You can blow holes in things Edge
• There will be combat situations on planets IGN Video Interview
• You have a compass (the heart in the middle of the screen at the top) IGN Developer Commentary
• There are procedurally generated rooms Rock, Paper, Shotgun
• The suit nullifies gravity. Eurogamer
• I'm sure I've probably missed some things, so feel free to let me know and I'll add them. Also, I'm trying to keep this mostly to facts about the game only, things that Sean himself has said, or people who have had a hands on have said. So please no speculation, and please give a link if you'd like to add a new piece of information. If I've made a mistake somewhere, then feel free to point it out and I'll correct it. If you think I've got some headings wrong or some points under the wrong headings, then feel free to suggest new ones, this is just something I put together quickly.

Hello, Sean here, working super, super hard on No Man’s Sky.

Every day, the game is getting better and better, and despite all the late nights (and early mornings) we’re all working to get it finished and in your hands, it’s amazing to see it all coming together.

You might already know this, but we had to delay the game from its original June release date. It’s now August 9 in north America, and August 10 in Europe. We knew that people would be disappointed, and we’ve certainly heard a lot from some who decided to tell us all about that. But we’ve also heard some super nice words of support as we make the final push.

I’ve said it before, but No Man’s Sky is the hardest thing I’ve ever worked on. It’s even bigger than you can imagine. This is a type of game that hasn’t been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation.

And despite all of that, development is genuinely going well. This is the hardest working, most talented team I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so proud of what we’re doing. For all our sakes though, we get one shot to make this game and we can’t mess it up.

So that’s what we’re doing right now, and every day I feel more sure it was the right decision. Thank you so much for your support and patience. The universe will be yours very soon.

If we assume that 1 million people will be playing the game at the same time--which would be a pretty impressive number of concurrent players--and all of them are on some planet, then the chance that at least two of them are on the same planet is extremely small: .00000271%.

It kinda felt like a sandbox game with exploration style; my first impression is like Eve Online where you will have friends and form a squad / fleet to explore around.

Fight enemies and create alliances alike.

I don't see any PLOT except for those ancient ruins or monolith featured in those gameplay videos.

well, from what i understand, the main difference between this game and the real universe is the distance between each planet to one another, which is much shorter. sean murray did told us last time that the planet is the size of an actual planet, relative to the player character.

i still remember the calculation did result in some years for player to actually reach the center of the universe. one of the assumption that was made is that, we visit the planet for 1 second only then left to other planet, towards the center of the universe. of course, this doesn't take into account the time we need to grind for our equipment as it was supposed to be harder the nearer we are to the center of the universe.. with sentinels and what not..

The early look doesn't sound too good for this game. Already got people streaming this on twitch. Ship changes are purely cosmetics.

with regards to the gameplay video from the unauthorized copy, i am going with the assumption that the copy that the guy bought is not the final copy.. the gameplay video that the guy released made me more excited about the game!

Update 1.03
When we went gold five or six week ago, we posted on twitter, and literally every reply was like “hope you are going on a nice holiday!”. Some of us have, but I didn’t want to, not yet. I pictured myself somewhere staring out the window thinking about this game I’ve been working on for five years.
We’re under a pretty intense spotlight right now, and hopefully it’s easy to imagine how hard it would be to switch off from that, or how deeply we care about people’s first impression of the game.
In fact most of us were back here the day after we went gold, working on this update. We’re already proud of what we put on a disk, but if we had time, why not continue to update it?

Hello Games will continually update No Man’s Sky this way. This is the first of many.

It will be available on Monday for press for review once it exits submission, and on launch for public on PC and PS4. We expect future updates like these to continue to be free.

For 99.9% of people, all you have to do is install the update before you begin to play.
If you had an early copy somehow, your save game will technically work post update, but you will miss out on new content and experiences if you don’t delete your save before updating (should be obvious why from notes below). We highly recommend deleting your save if you have played before updating your game (we won’t do this in future, but it’s a day zero update).

Servers will be wiped on Sunday and again Monday in the lead up to launch.

Game is already going well impression wise from console player.

Only problem I see is how the developers is kinda dumb at explaining it's not an MMO experience, more of a single player base experience with some multiplayer experience... dark soul like..

Might get a mix review from people who though this is going to be MMO lol....those who never reads xD

Ya, they might need to make it clear. From my understanding, it is MMO but the universe so damn huge, chances of you met another player are super slim.

great price.
i'm really curious if its meant to be single player - what kind of content we are looking at?
so far i see vast universe - planet exploration - hunting - survival - trade with NPC - space battle (faction? how frequent?).
not really having an exact idea on how this going to be by single player means. hmm.gif

hehe, the devs have been quoted as saying the same thing many times and for months now. i've also shared the same information in this same thread months before. don't quite understand why you guys still think it is a rumor.

my personal thinking is because of 2 reasons: the real vastness of the galaxy in-game and also because the console version can only handle a limited number of players together at the same time.

I'm sure that gamers will somehow find a solution to it.

Something like mapping the universe out and meet at one known place.

Nah, keep track of the metacritic for ps4 version. Obviously won't cover technical aspect of pc version, but at least you can get rough estimate if the gameplay suite your taste.

Basically if you claim the preorder ship, there is a bug that may happen such that you cannot progress further into the game. currently for PS4 version. not sure if it will happen on PC version. if in doubt just do not claim the preorder ship in-game or wait for Hello Games to address this.

What I think of No Man's Sky in the 1st hour of gameplay...

- it stutters here & there. Not arkham knight terrible like other people said.
- Almost impossible to die. Resources to maintain the suit is virtually unlimited.
- sentinels are annoying as hell...but they're my go to titanium resources.
- will never run out of fuel in space. Fuel is everywhere in space.
- lots of walking..like I get 3 achievements for walking a lot.
- jetpack is unlimited. Helps with falling from high cliff.
- feels like The Long Dark but a lot less brutal.

Part of the FPS problem seems to be about GSYNC issue.. because most doesn't have it yet it is enabled lol

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/c...edible_fps_fix/

Anyway I played like 15min yesterday, and asked for a refund and got my money back. Terribly optimized and a straight port from console. Should have done better. Texture is pretty much bad as well like 1x1? lol

How can at the start menu and the logo No Man's Sky pop up, you already get stutters and lags.. unacceptable imo.

For those wanting to buy it, i'd suggest to wait until they fix everything. Only then maybe it will be worth it. Even so on console, a friend of mine played for 3 days already, and he already got bored. lol

What I think after 3 hours gameplay....

- 10th word I learn about Gek is Gek...kek...at this point translating alien language is taking just as much as exploring 18 quintillion planets.
- change graphic setting...restart game...change another graphic setting....restart again.
- hyperdrived to 2nd galaxy...feel a bit dejavu...
- I find 1 Gek per building...only intelligent alien I can find in 3 galaxies...
- am I endangered species or banana Gek?
- I named my galaxy with my username...but I like money better than renaming. I click money.

When I land on planet with toxic rain, fps drop to 10.

My NMS journey ended here.

Such a beautiful planet, it feels just like earth with green grass and good weather. Sadly after this I keep on crashing, nonstop.

Crash at main menu, crash ingame, crash here and there and now I can't even leave the planet.

Finally hit the refund button after 8h gameplay.

played a few hours yesterday. 1st, the 'initialise screen' made me feel dumb. lol. biggrin.gif

the interface is very confusing at start, but Ok-ish once i understand the game.

game stutters a bit, but quite smooth for me, only occasional nanosec freezes after i disabled vsync and minimize aa.

maxed everything else changed to 90FPS enabled , and it still run quite smooth on my PC. Incoming patches surely give more boost to graphics section.

I would suggest that you hold on with this for a while. The current performance issue affect range from GTX1080 down to intel IGP GPU, and across the board of AMD & Intel processor too.

Wait till the devs ironed out the issue first (or get the PS4 copy if you can't wait, less problem)

Or, technically it affects both GPU with OpenGL 4.5 & CPU with Intel SSE4.1 supports.

Thanks for the heads up.

I am holding off buying this until most of the issues get ironned out.

However, I am mainly waiting for sales though.

my progress so far..

- played around 30 hours +
- currently at 5th planet, on 2nd star system
- inventory slot = 42
- ship slot = 25
- multi tool slot = 11

weirdest discovery so far? i think i already came across another player while wandering about at the 2nd star system's space station. how i know it was another real player? the guy was using the red starter spacecraft. the name of the guy looks like russian, not the typical gibberish alien name and 3rd, i cannot engage/interact with the space craft. usually when you face a spacecraft, you can interact with it to go into trading etc.

best planet i visited so far is my 4th planet. everywhere is GOLD! choke-full of drop pods and damaged machinery!

i think the first few hours of game play is gone just to tweak the graphic setting sweat.gif

so far, i am enjoying the game. i am also aware that quite a lot of player is unhappy with the game play so far. perhaps due to their expectation. i am also in agreement that the game has a lot of potential. the question is whether hellogame is willing to push for the limit or just settle with how much money they make so far.

Improved AMD Phenom Support:
Thousands of lines of assembly have been rewritten to support AMD CPUs. The game code no longer relies on anything above SSE 2; Havok Physics has also now created new libs. Game is now confirmed working on Phenom CPUs.

Mouse Smoothing:
Smoothing on mouse movement has been improved to prevent hitching or stuttering, and is now adjustable through the Options menu in "Mouse Smoothing." It now defaults to off. If you feel the framerate is "slow" or "lumpy," please make sure that this is turned off (it helps players with sub-30 frames per second).

Improved Performance:
On CPUs with 4 threads or fewer, performance has been improved. On CPUs with 8 threads, performance has also been significantly improved.

Radeon 6xxx:
Added support for this GPU, which doesn't support OpenGL 4.5 fully.

Player Saves:
Help to recover some player saves which had been lost or corrupt.

Alt-Tab has improved:
Some systems/configs were crashing or not pausing correctly on Alt Tab. This should now be resolved.

Shader Caching:
Framerate was initially stuttering due to shaders not being correctly cached by the GPU on some systems. We have replaced the GPU caching system. You may notice some stutter during the Galactic Map intro to the game (the very first time you run), but it should be smoother from then on (this will be fixed in future). This is particularly true on ATI cards.

Max FPS Cap:
On some CPU/GPU configurations, setting Max FPS to 60 or 30 was not giving 60 or 30 FPS (causing stuttering). This has been improved.

Intel GPUs:
The game will now let you know if you are trying to run with an unsupported GPU. This will hopefully flag for some users that their high-end GPU has not been selected. We are working on Intel GPU support.

G-sync:
G-sync has been disabled by default, which was causing an issue for some users.

Kanasai, made 500k units, all ships priced 800k.
Made 1mil units, all ships priced 1.5mil.

Looks like I am to keep this 19 slots ship for a while before going for a 3mil ship later.

How do you rename the planet, I couldn't find the option.
It's full of toxic right? Storm appears every few minutes?

This is game is not worth the price.
Gameplay is like an android farming game, repeatative, things that are randomized are mostly aesthetic and does not impact the game play.
All ships have the same speed, all planets have the same gravity, all stations have the same layout.
Multiplayer is basically only you can share the name of planets/animals you discover and nothing more.

Im liking the update so far. Nice variation of colours now, more weird animal spawning for me, the texture pop up still there but does not seem worse. Im not doing any base building yet so far.

[PC] Following reports of some people experiencing issues with the game while unsupported mods are installed, we’ve added mod detection which will show a warning screen on loading when mods are detected. A mouse click or button press will dismiss this screen. We have also introduced a new method for mod installation which should prevent player’s games from breaking when a new update is released. For details please see the ‘DISABLEMODS.TXT’ file in the \GAMEDATA\PCBANKS folder.

[PC] Allowed remapping of the build menu and quick menu commands to support Azerty keyboards.

[PC] We’ve enabled a temporary workaround for the SLI issues people are experiencing. If you are running in SLI, please disable TAA and the game should run. We are looking into a more permanent solution to this issue.

Fixed an issue which, in some rare cases, prevented NPCs from giving you mission critical dialogue.

Fixed a bug which could cause core items to be transferred from exosuit inventory to starship inventory.

Fixed a number of rare crashes (if you continue to experience crashes, please send a crash report and include your crash dumps).

[PC] Fix for monitor detection on PCs with 3rd party remote desktop or screen sharing applications.

[PC] Running the game via the .exe file should no longer give Steam Init errors.

Fixed an issue where underwater buildings could spawn without doors which in rare cases would mean the NPC missions could not be completed. (Note: If you are still being pointed to missing facilities during the NPC questlines, you can either claim a new base and re-build the NPC terminal, or if you have a Freighter, remove the NPC terminal from your base and rebuild it in the Freighter. The NPC should then give you new coordinates. We are still working on a more permanent fix for this issue).

Fixed a bug that would make the player character small.
Space battles will now vary in size more and players should see bigger battles.
Fixed the instantaneous death loop that could occur in survival mode if you saved with 1 health and no hazard protection. You will still be on the verge of death when you load in, but it won’t happen instantaneously.
[PC] Fix for steam controller not being able to warp.
[PC] Removed up, down, left, right as quick menu navigation keys to allow left handed players to move while using the quick menu.
[PC] Page Up and Page down can now be used to navigate up and down in the quick menu.
Removed duplicated planets from discoveries menu.
Fixed an issue with redeeming promo ships in survival, which would result in the ship being spawned above the ground.
Fix for missing ruins underwater which could cause missions to point to nothing.
Various audio tweaks and fixes:
Added ladder climbing sounds.
Fixed base building prop sounds not playing when placed inside a Freighter.
Added sound effect for calling Freighters.
Added sound effect when using communication stations.
Fixed an issue which could affect ambient sound in Freighters.
Changed the sound effect when using the Terminus Teleporter.
Fixed some rare crashes.

anyone playing this game on this update? I'm quite hyped over this. Cos NMS actually nailed almost every aspect of a space sim I wanted, just lacks a solid story or purpose (like most 4X games, but NMS at most is a 3X lol)

now that it added true mp and tons of other stuff, very hyped and keen to try it again!

the game had a story (actually several). the Artemis path, the Atlas path and the mystery of the black holes. However you only infer them by actually reading the text at various POI u discover along the way.

And some of these stories or characters mentioned in the game were tied to the 2 ARG events before the launch of Atlas Rising and before NEXT was launched.

Yeah.... Just that it's far from a "solid" story imo.... Just texts and go here. Go there.

That said I'm still enjoying the update so far. But the flight controls feel very clumsy. Is it because of the ship capabilities? Dont remember it being so unresponsive last time

I just upped the sensitivity on the flight controls, seems slightly better but it is bulky. Maybe the ship? The update's great, like it was what it supposed to be when it came out.

hopefully is the ship. which will make a lot of sense (and i like the idea), and not a concern for lack of optimisation.

yes even in AR, ships (class) affects maneuverability and other attributes like damage, cargo, shield absorption etc.

have not played NEXT much yet so not sure if those are still the same. i expect the game to use the same mechanics, just that the old ships we know may have changed in stats.

if you have not touched the game since it launched in 2016, it won't be that big a shock. those who have been playing it up till recently will know the really big differences. entire resource mechanics has changed. from gathering / creation / and crafting.

for those who have not been playing much - think the biggest impact will be MP and the weekly community challenges when those drop soon.

as long as your PC can run the game. for me so far no CTD after 3+ hrs. and fairly smooth framerate but i do not have my FPS counter up last night. 21:9 users will still have issues though. hope that is resolved. sigh.

yeah, I've seen people with same hardware as me (sandy bridge and gtx960/970) having problems. Luckily I think I'm still running the game at decent rates, just have occassional stutters, hope it gets fixed soon.

btw... looks like it will be a long grind to my first freighter tho. nawwww

Hello everyone,

First of all thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing NEXT and letting us know about any issues you’ve experienced (and a special thanks to those on PC who have opted in to the Experimental branches to help us verify fixes early). It’s overwhelming to watch thousands of players begin or continue their journey across the universe.

We have now released update 1.52.1 to PC, which includes the fixes detailed below. We’ll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

Bug fixes:

Fixed a crash in creature routines
Fixed a crash when multiple players put ammunition into a refiner
Fix for occasional crash when receiving mission rewards
Fix for crash when adjusting anisotropic filtering settings in the graphics options menu (PC only)
Fix for potential crash in geometry streaming
Improvements to texture caching for AMD GPUs (PC only)
Fixed an issue where some players still had physical nanites in their inventory that could not be spent at vendors
Granted players nanites when they dismantle their Obsolete Technology – spend nanites on new upgrades in Space Stations
Added a tutorial mission to guide players through the restoration of their old base
Fixed an issue where players were unable to build Frigate Terminals in Creative Mode
Fixed an issue where S-Class ships changed appearance
Fixed an issue where players were unable to build the Base Cache on their freighter to retrieve compensation for the loss of their freighter base
Fixed an issue where some Exosuit technology was not converted to Obsolete Technology. Please note this does not apply retroactively to save games that have already been upgraded.
Improved the mapping of old substances to new substances during the save upgrade. Please note this does not apply retroactively to save games that have already been upgraded.
If you experience any issues, let us know by submitting a bug report.

Thank you,

Hello Games

this game has alot of history and i do not know which reviews you read. and i do not know what games you like, what you have played before in the past and your gaming tolerance. so all i can say is below.

it originally was mostly single player.

there is 2/3 different 'story-lines' to follow. but they are not actual quests to complete. and you have to read alot to appreciate the stories. if you don't like reading, or putting stories together (like a jig-saw puzzle), then essentially there is no quest and you will eventually find it boring.

there is better handholding (compared to the past patches) in terms of understanding the game and crafting mechanics. but otherwise treat it as a sandbox survival game.

if you cannot set your own goals yourself, or need alot of handholding then you will find it boring and lonely. much of this game emphasizes on self discovery.

Thanks for the reply. I play lot of adventure games except strategy. A survival game i played was subnautica & i found it's good.

From what you mentioned, there are a lot of readings with NMS & i'm not sure i could tolerate with it, i played wither 3 too & i found it's good too but much talking, guess i'm not a RPG guy.

Since it's on sale & i'm thinking to try getting it and try out, from what i've seen from youtube, everything seems nice after the updates. Just worry that i'll lost track on what i should do in the game, i lost my way back in subnautica too.

there are options to track and remind you of what is needed to do.

and if you missing some item to craft or don't know how to craft or find a resource, u can set it to be tracked and the game will assist you as much as possible. the actual finding you have to execute yourself.

Not bad, that's considered a lot though, most of the single player games are almost those figures.

consider it a scenic minecraft and exploration in space. and pyre's description is pretty much ON POINT. Can't think of better description of the game.

If you like subnautica, I think you will like this as well. Just that... expect quite a far bit of bugs (one or two game-breaking even) in its current state. It is an ambitious game by a studio with less than 20 people. Major props for them pulling it this far.

Look for guides on how to farm credits and stuff though (look specifically for NEXT, since this is basically a whole new game when it comes to crafting and grinding compared to previous), or else you will be grinding for 50 hours and barely make one tenth of progress/discoveries in terms of the overall content this game have to offer. i'd say 99.9 space sim lovers that quitted this game are because of the grind.

Since launch of NEXT they have been actively addressing game breaking bugs and I think so far they should have most fixed by now (which is about 1 week after launch). And i recall reading the latest size of HG is less than 15.

HG actually closed off a few duplication glitches in the last few patches, including the Cryo Pump one. I was actually occupied with other stuff so no time to play, but actually you can make alot of seed money - just need some time. The easiest is probably the Whispering Eggs - u can easily farm those to get you into your first millions.

You can also save your Nanites to invest in better scanners that give better payouts when scanning. Personally I don't think credits is a big issue so did not really go out of my way to glitch or farm much. I just play along and enjoy the game.

Another other trick (not for money generation) is also to look for damaged or abandoned ships. Repair only their launch thrusters and pulse drive. the rest of the damage parts just do not attempt to repair. fly to the nearest trade outpost or space station and just wait for another alien ship to appear, then trade your damaged ship for a brand new one. instant new ship.

here, some tips and tricks that won't make u glitch or feel guilty tongue.gif

still got a shload of bugs for me. Especially when playing with my friend. He had to start over because of quest locator going haywire (cos we join each other's lobby, and the game's MP logic messed up). and I died multiple times to falling out of my freighter when warping, even on latest patch. And some frigates when u land to repair, u instantly get thrown into space too. also while pulse driving to my freighter, the pulse drive decided to crash me into my freighter and im stuck there. lol.

but yeah I i don't mean glitches when looking for guides. Can refer to guides thats legit, like what you shared. Spend credits on the best components, farm the "right" stuff, trade nanites on the scanners etc. Lots of good guides on Youtube that's not glitches.

Hello everyone,

We are continuing to address the highest priority issues reported by the community. As always, thank you for playing the game and taking the time to report any issues you encounter!

Please note that due to the large number of changes in this patch, especially the fixes for save game recovery, there is always the possibility it may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please post them here, or submit a ticket to Zendesk[hellogames.zendesk.com] with the phrase "Steam Experimental 24/08" in the ticket title.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Select "Code: 3xperimental" in the dropdown menu under "Select the beta you would like to opt into".

Latest changes on Experimental (24/08):
Added user permissions for multiplayer, on a per-save slot basis. Settings for visibility, damage + base editing can be customised to apply to all players, friends only, or no-one.
Improved the terrain edit saving system, reducing the chance of terrain regenerating. Further improvements to this system are in progress.
Improved the visuals of player starship trails.
Added archaeology missions to the available pool of missions from planetary NPCs.

Fixed an issue that could prevent players with very large save games from saving.
Fixed a number of issues that prevented save games from loading.
Fixed an issue that incorrectly synced information in multiplayer.
Fixed a number of issues that could cause mission markers to be attached to the wrong destination.
Fixed a number of issues around the refiner and general inventory systems. Improved the pick and drop system of inventory management.

Fixed an issue that caused visual glitches in clouds at higher resolutions.
Fixed occasional crash in geometry streaming when exiting planet atmosphere.
Fixed issue where cloud shadows would interfere with reflection rendering.
Improved consistency between tessellated and non-tessellated terrains.
Improved performance when leaving planets.
Various memory savings, improving overall stability.
Various performance optimisations.

Fixed an issue that could prevent players from going through black holes.
Fixed an issue where players were able to warp and get stuck on the other side of a portal.
Fixed an issue where players were able to enter their freighter base when it was not loaded in memory.
Fixed an issue where players could start their game in inappropriate systems when starting in multiplayer.
Fixed an issue that could cause vast numbers of Sentinel Drones to spawn.
Fixed an issue that prevented players with pre-NEXT saves from fully upgrading their Exosuit.
Fixed an issue where freighter crew would change race on warp.
Fixed an issue where player ships could spawn on the same landing pad in multiplayer.
Fixed a number of cases where freighter battles were not correctly synced in multiplayer.
Fixed an issue where players were not able to land on other player's freighters.
Fixed a number of issues affecting the interaction with captains of freighters not owned by the player.
Fixed an issue that caused expedition length, difficulty + rewards to scale incorrectly relative to the power of the player's fleet.
Fixed an issue that caused players to exit their ships / exocraft while tagging a marker.
Fixed an issue where ships landed on freighters to be labelled ON PLANET.
Fixed an issue that caused player ships to have incorrect information when viewed through the Analysis Visor.
Fixed an issue that could cause Sentinels to appear as undiscovered creatures when viewed through the Analysis Visor.
Fixed the axes used to calculate planet coordinates shown on the Analysis Visor.
Prevented players with freighters from warping other players in multiplayer to systems they would get stuck in.
Fixed an issue where the freighter dock lights were not correctly lit/unlit when a save was loaded on a freighter.
Various text fixes.

Today we’re thrilled to announce the next major component of Beyond: No Man’s Sky Virtual Reality.

No Man’s Sky Virtual Reality is not a separate mode, but the entire game brought to life in virtual reality. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update is ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience.

No Man’s Sky Virtual Reality, like all the parts of Beyond, will be free to existing players. However, we’re excited to announce that the release of Beyond will see an exclusive retail release of the game on PlayStation 4. This physical edition will come with the base game, VR support, and every update so far, including Beyond.

No Man’s Sky Virtual Reality will bring the experience to PlayStation VR and Steam VR, and will be released simultaneously on both platforms.

Is the game worth it if I cannot invest a lot of time on it? Probably just an hour or two per week? Suitable to play with controller/couch gaming with my SO?

"No! you weren't supposed to click that," Murray laughs, "We're still optimising space travel!" I rip the throttle back and immediately lurch forward with the ship into uncharted territory, tearing at the joystick to help pull the ship around an incoming asteroid. For a second I take it all in, the endless sea of planets in front of me – an infinite arrangement of opportunities, all unknown – and in an instant I know: No Man's Sky is the VR game I have waited my entire life to play.

"There's this cool moment that we were experiencing of two or three of you being on a planet and feeling really tiny in amongst everything," Murray said. "There's a nice camaraderie there of, oh, it's just us and we're flying our ships beside each other or whatever. So you're looking out the window and it's really nice to see your buddy there and realize how small you are and have that experience together. It's a really nice moment."

QUOTE
But I am going to fly around in creative mode a lot. I'm going to revisit all my favorite planets and experience them again in VR. I'm definitely going to drive that Roamer around again, I'm going to pilot my submarine around and stare at some procedural fish, and I can't wait to take the hovering Nomad for a spin, too. As a way to experience the boundless exploration of a beautiful procedural universe, I honestly have a hard time imagining a better fit for VR than No Man's Sky.

QUOTE
"It constantly surprises us how interested people are in it - the kind of numbers that Next sold last year, a triple-A game would have been happy with those numbers. It's been very successful for us. I don't know how many more big exciting things we can think of - I thought when we did Next that was kind of all of them, then you talk to the team and one person's working on VR, one's working on this crazy online thing, and you're like, okay, we're still excited about this. And I think that's the metric for it. We're doing Last Campfire as well, that's an exciting thing, and we're starting on something new as well - which is like a big, ambitious, silly thing. We won't be talking about that for a long, long time - there's a lot going on in the studio. And No Man's Sky is a big part of it."

No Man's Sky is the poster child for a shift that has occurred in games development over the past three years -- where games transform dramatically after release. Such a process is common in the mobile space, but less so on other platforms. After four major updates, Hello Games' ambitious sci-fi adventure is almost unrecognisable compared to when it was released.

...

"We're in a nice position now, and I think this is the happiest the team has been," says Murray. "Beyond is on the horizon for us, we're working very hard on that at the moment. After that, I think we'll continue to update No Man's Sky. But a thing I've learnt is, I never like making promises when I don't have to. We'll see, right? As long as people are interested and playing it, it's something that the team here is passionate about. We'll only do it while we think there are fun and interesting things to add."
