FYI ,

The Playstation 5 edition of HFW is the only edition available on PSN if you access via PS5 .

If you want to purchase the PS4 edition which cost RM250 instead of rm300 , you will have to use Browsers or older PS4 / PS4 Pro platform .


On top of that , you will not be able to preload the PS5 edition of HFW if you purchase the PS4 edition . You can only upgrade to the PS5 edition when the clock hits 12:00 am tonight .

They will get the stock by today but they are not allowed to sell it , which is against the rules .

You should be able to buy it from game merchant by tomorrow in major cities .

I spent some times wandering in the world of Horizon Forbidden West , on both PS4 pro and PS5 .
It really does feel ancient on older consoles , not only because of the lengthy loading time and visual downgrades .

Because the game relies heavily on Dynamic Res on older platform to hold its framerate target , many of the surface details are lost in the process .
In fact it is so disappointing because pop-in issues are also quite severe on the PS4 platforms , it is as bad as one of the recent switch game - Pokemone Arceus .


As for the PS5 edition , the resolution mode is simply a wonder to behold .

The world is just brimming with details in every pixel and corner of the screen .
Your eyes will never get to take a break to the point you forgot to play to game sometimes because you are too busy staring at that boar with little patch of white fur on its face and its broken tusk .

This is one of those games you need a real 4K screen to perceive its full potential .

There are already some stark differences between the 60 & 30 fpsmode on PS5 , where the 30 fps (favor res) feels like a interactive cinematic throughout the gameplay .
The youtube video do them no justice due to the highly compressed nature of streaming videos . The actual differences are much more blantant .

While the PS4 and PS4 pro ver still look good , just don't ever compare them side by side the PS5 resolution mode . It makes them look utterly obsolete .


The HDR implementation is again , fantastic .
Except this time they aren't just vibrant leaves and shiny stars .

It is the emphasis of these elements , colors and lights . The combination of putting them together in the same pictures so they create that incredible sense of depth .

GG's artists have definitely gotten much better at these since HZD .
You will need a really high end display to get the best out of it .

I am particularly impressed that they aren't just going for brightness this time , there are very natural and soft lights even in a darker cave , not just eye blinding torch that screams contrast in your face .


P/S : I still don't like the melee animation on Alloy , also the fact that she is stabbing air sometimes but the enemies have baked in " defeated " animation , it doesn't feel as satisfactory as other games.

HZD was CB'ed to 4k resolution , while HFW runs at checkerboarded Dynamic 1800p 60 FPS . It often drops down to 1440p during the hectic scenes , that is still quite far away from CB 4k .

There is no upgrade kit , the PS5 version is an independent app which you need to " purchase " (for $ 0) from PSN .
