Posting some early impressions here (not done with the game yet, so no review):
+ Surprisingly solid main story, most open-world games has a main story that you kind of forget about until you're done screwing around with everything in the world, not so with Horizon. I'm actually very eager to know what's happening next each time I finish a main story mission. + Great looking game, not Uncharted 4 level of quality but very close. Comparing it to other open world titles, Horizon is definitely near the top as one of the best looking open world games out there now. Yes, quite noticeably better than Witcher 3. + Game sounds... good, but not great. I think the musical score is a little weak. Though voice acting is pretty natural throughout and never sounds "hammy". This applies to sidequests NPCs too, they aren't after-thought characters with a bored to death voice actor behind it. The sound effects made by the bionic creatures are okay, but doesn't really give the sense that they sound bigger than they look. + I like the Tomb Raider style skill-points upgrading. Not much to say here for now, haven't even unlocked half the stuff yet. - Materials collection has gotten repetitive for me, this is just after 6 hours through the game. It's expected I guess, no way around it. - As expected, there are quite a handful of fetch quests. They're not over abundant like in AC games, but yeah... there are pointless sidequests in Horizon. They are of course, optional. |

QUOTE(hutazi @ Feb 17 2017, 05:08 PM) ah ok cool. I just came from playing Yakuza 0 which has a shitty lock on system. So to be honest, melee combat didn't bother me too much. Objectively speaking, it does feel unrefined though.one thing ive been reading is that the spear fighting has no lock on so its a bit messy. really bad? |

QUOTE(hutazi @ Feb 17 2017, 05:16 PM) To be clear; there is a lock-on system in the game during melee combat. But it's an auto soft-lock instead of an active one you'd get with games like Nioh or Nier. I believe people say this is messy because if you're fighting more than 1 enemy, the soft lock can get out of focused often times. Then again, this isn't a hack n' slash game as it is designed around more on being strategic rather than going in like conan the barbarian. |

Then again, this isn't a hack n' slash game as it is designed around more on being strategic rather than going in like conan the barbarian. so gotta disperse and then attack i guess. well i suppose majority of the battles will be arrows and traps i guess. |
