Things that I'm worrying currently
- Is it a safe place after the military took over the government?
- Traffic jam...grrr
- People there might not have good command of English. communication can be a problem (faced a lot of communication barrier with local people in Jakarta before even I can speak a little bit Indonesian)
- Not enough Thai Baht tongue.gif This is the most important hehe. Wondering how much should I bring for a two week trip?

Will be staying at CentrePoint Wireless Road studio room biggrin.gif Anyone been there before?

It's so near to Ploenchit station, quite convenient it seems

Wow thanks dude, I appreciate your info notworthy.gif
But just wanna make clear of something since I haven't got the complete map from hotel staff yet:

1,2. About the Siam Square, I don't really have to take the skytrain right? If I were to walk, how long does it take? And what is the closing time of the mall?

3. Where is the Erawan Shrine located? Somewhere near Grand Hyatt? Is photographing allowed there?

And where is the "Siam Area" with uniform girls? drool.gif

4. I love jogging! Will do it in the weekends

5. What's the difference between night shopping and shopping in Siam Square?

6. Will explore it in the weekend brows.gif

Basically, I'm staying there for 2 weeks so I think it's quite sufficient for me to check out everything you mentioned above smile.gif

Hey since you're in Bangkok at this time, maybe you can get in touch with "samurai1337" http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showuser=6771 and hang out a bit with him. Heard from him that work isn't as hectic as it was imagined, and I'm guessing he'll have some free time to throw around.

LOL! I'm quoted!!!!!!!!

Yeah rite, it's not that hectic, at least still got time at nite. PM me if you want my Thailand phone number smile.gif I'm just staying at Centrepoint (Wireless Road)

So far I haven't visited much places yet except
- Taking a walk nearby the Nana area (very quiet that time, bought some road side food)
- Chidlom Central (high class shopping mall it seems, didn't walk much just had a dinner there)
- Suan Lum Night Bazaar (quite an interesting place, nice food there. But things aren't that cheap to be frank)

tytaniumism - I didn't really walk into Nana area la, LOL..just walked along the Sukhamvit road nearby Ploenchit and Chidlom when I got nothing better to do that night. 10pm...that's late. I usually reach serviced apartment around 7++pm

I'll stay until next wednesday (hopefully no delay), and I would like to visit
- Siam Area (MBK, Siam Square, Siam Paragon etc)
- Erawan Shrine
- Chatuchak weekend market
- Nana area (this time for real!) and maybe all the popular "Soi" nearby there
- Gonna jog in Lumpini park
- Floating market (follow tour maybe)

Too many places to visit, too little personal time biggrin.gif

Going back KL tomorrow biggrin.gif getting a little bit bored after so many days here.

The weather is quite cool here especially early in the morning and also evening/night.

Places I've been in Bangkok
- Suan Lum night bazaar (Been there twice, nice place and more comfortable than Chatuchak)
- Shopping area around Central Chidlom & Erawan (Just a quick walk)
- Erawan Shrine (Nothing much, just a shrine but with some interesting story behind)
- Lumpini park (went there for jogging, big park)
- Chatuchak weekend market (Didn't buy anything there... just had a walk coz really too crowded and packed)
- Shopping area around Siam (Siam Square, Siam Center, Siam Paragon - went to Ocean World...damn expensive!!!!)
- MBK Plaza (reacable via BTS - National Stadium)
- Nightlife area around Sukhimvit - Nana, Asok etc...
- Fortune Town (went to IT mall), reachable via MRT - Phra Ram 9
- Had dinner with sales manager somewhere at Rachada road

Wanted to go Grand Palace actually, but missed it. Overall a nice trip although it can be a bit lonely since I'm alone here sad.gif Spent a lot of money buying things too!

Seriously, I think the bombing case is somewhat exaggerated by the media and foreigners

I've asked some of my colleagues, customers in Bangkok all said the situation is not as severe as some people might be thinking. The attacks are rather small scale although it covered many areas.

The paranoid around is understandable, but come to think of it, we in Malaysia aren't living in a 100% safe place too...the most important thing is, like sunbeams said, stay alert and if things really happened, it's unavoidable.

will be going to bangkok via airasia...

but im just wondering why the time back from BKK to KL is almost 3 hours but from KL to BKK is about 1 hour?

will be going there next month...

any good guide can recommend?
*
LOL, that's because of the 1 hour time difference.

Remember, the departure time is always based on the time zone of departure port, and the arrival time is always based on the time zone of destination

MBK Shopping center, Siam Square, Chatuchak/SuanLum/Pat Phong night market are probably what you're looking for.
