Swiss Park Hotel
The location is alright but the rooms and hotel are aging. Location wise it's about 5 mins walk away from BTS Nana.

Le Fenix
Along the same road as Swiss Park Hotel, but it's further down the road so walking to the BTS would take about 10-15 mins time. But it's a nice hotel with comfortable beds and a nice big LCD TV.

Grand Mercure Bangkok Park Avenue
While the two hotels above are right in the middle of the busy Sukhumvit road, this hotel is further away from all the noise so it's also not a bad place to stay. The walk to BTS Phrom Pong is about 20 mins. The fixtures in this hotel are also starting to show signs of aging.

All the above hotel is ranging from RM150-RM250 per night.

Can't wait for my next trip to bangkok.

hi all. am heading to bkk this friday, hopefully. with masks! haha.

will be staying on khaosan road. i've not managed to finish reading this thread, would like some advise if possible. would be my first time to bkk

trip is mainly for shopping, food and some sight-seeing.

what i've managed to gather from this thread so far:

SHOPPING
Malls (that are worth going): Siam Paragon (just for a look-see, since we've never been), MBK Mall, Central World, Platinum Mall.
Markets: Chatuchak (Sat & Sun), Pratunam Market (wholesale), Suan Lum Night Bazaar.

TOURIST PLACES
- Erawan Shrine (4-faced Buddha, Chidlom Station)
- Floating Market (full-packaged tour, 150km out of Bangkok)
- Chao Phraya River (Head to ferry terminal, buy passes for visitor boat taxi.)
- Vimannek (World's largest teak wood mansion? Is this worth going?)
- The Grand Palace
- Emerald Buddha (where's this?)
- Death Railway (where's this? worth going?)

FOOD
- Basically, food on the streets.
- Suan Lum Night Bazaar's got a huge open air food court.
- Chinatown, for chinese-style hawker seafood.
- Tony Roma's, just cos they have pork ribs. haha

TRANSPORT
- Cabs (to also bear in mind that bangkok is almost always jammed up)
- Tuk-tuks (cheap but might be time-consuming if they detour to other places to collect petrol vouchers)
- Trains (there are two types of trains, although i really don't know how long the nationwide railway strike is going to last)

MASSAGES
- Sukhumvit Road's got a lot of massage parlours, but their charges are generally higher.
- Pratunam's got cheaper massage parlours. (Is there a specific street in Pratunam, though?)
- HealthLand Massage Centre

CHILL OUT / DRINKING
- Sarasin Road in Lumphini (pubs and bars)
- Silom (Skytrain Sala Daeng Station)
- Patpong (Silom MRT station)
- Nana (red-light district)
- Soi Cowboy (for nightlife)
- RCA (a lot of pubs. can anyone tell me where this is?)
- BedSupper Club, Sukhumvit Soi 11

i stayed in eastin last yr..quite nice hotel, a lot better than first hotel and asia hotel in my opinion... the room quite big and comfortable and the breakfast not bad too.. but i check the price for the room, seems like they increase it quite a lot compare ot mine last time..last time i book at around 190+ per night..

Just returned from Bkk, 4d3n, not to worry bout the H1N1, just shop and dine!
Not many people wear masks, except a few ang-mohs. Seen more masks on board flights.
Stayed in S15 Sukhumvit Hotel, very near Asoke BTS. GREAT boutique hotel, super friendly staff and clean hotel, free WiFi, near to most major shopping areas - recommended!

ya..is clean and nice room..but that is about 1yrs + b4.. i like the environment but the problem is its quite far from lrt.. but they provide free shuttle to lrt station..need to book atthe hotel counter there...

Wow...ane dozen of shoes? where do u shop? any reommendation must go mall or places?

i am going end of the yr and till new yr...but now still waiting to see the situation there...and i will wait till matta fair on sep to see if any cheap hotel there...too

it really depends what's your priority. If you are going to thailand mainly for shopping, i do only recommend jj market (chatujak market). the rest are nothing much fantastic, in fact prices are high than KL. higher end shopping complex such as siam paragon, siam discovery, mbk are pretty much the same with klcc; however it's worth a visit, but don't recommend to spending there.
Beaches, which thailand is famous for. couple amazing places such as phuket, huahin, pattaya is a must go place. beaches are not fantastic in pattaya nor huahin though. phuket or the surrounding islands such as phi phi, pang gha, are the only beach you should visit.
Praying the four face buddha. No further explananation needed.
Golfing, let me know if you are interested, it's a long article.
Clubbing, thailand got the BEST clubbing in the world so far. places such as Route 66, RCA, Slim, Nang Land, Muse are very famous. Plenty of beautiful young ladies, and handsome thai chinese. let me know if you need more info on that.
other than the above things, thailand is boring.
