Next day take a cab to Grand Palace and walk to Wat Po ( ~ 2Km away ) Then , took a boat at Tha Tien Pier8 to Wat Arun.
Learn a lesson, do not go there if you can, stress it to your tour guide.
*
hi lousai, can i know what is the entrance fee for Wat Po & the fees to take boat to Wat Arun & the entrance fee. I visited Grand Palace but skip other temples coz too hot already...will try to pay a visit next time.

going in june in an "all girls shopping trip" so figure better stay in chatuchak area would be more convenient smile.gif anyone have a better idea which hotel/guesthouse or inn is ok to stay there ?

prefer between RM 50 - 100 if possible as its just a place to stay and most of the time we will be out instead of staying in the room.
*
chatuchak only open on weekend, i think just stay anywhere that is near to any train station so u can access to many shopping places like in siam area, suam lum, patpong, chatuchak, sukhumvit, etc etc smile.gif

but if room between rm 50-100 in those places i mention & near train station really not sure smile.gif

2.) www.aircentre.net - (Business Inn Hotel) my new finding, never stay here, but around 800 baht per night. if u stay here, pls give review smile.gif

Both inn is just few min walk to nana bts station. btw, when r u travelling?

i m planning a trip to bangkok on labour day, need some advice,

1) airasia ticket is about rm580 including tax, tat is if i choose to arrive in bangkok at 5:15, reach there almost nite time, will it be a waste or i should choose an early morning flight better?

2) i m choosing hotels on this 2 locations, Sukhumvit will be Manhattan, and chinatown will be Twin Towers, which one u guys reckon is better? afaik chinatown is within walking distance to riverside, so tat u can travel and visit the places along riverside, while Sukhumvit will be good for shopping?
*
1.) better use the earlier flight, say, reach there around noon time...coz u already rugi some time if u reach at evening time, plus 5:15, the massive traffic jam started already! try to avoid touching down bangkok at those peak hour, although non peak hour also jam, but at least not as bad as peak hour (especially if u r heading to sukhumvit)

2.) sukhumvit is near to train-stations, so its accessible to most of the shopping places, then at the area alone, its full of daylife & nightlife. for china town, u have to take taxi or tuk tuk to anywhere lo, coz no train's transport within walking distance. but if your main purpose is for shopping, then i recommend you to stay at siam area.

Doing my last minute searching info around.
*
the nearest station to Patpong is Sala Daeng Station.

for popular places, dun miss Grand Palace, and some others Wat that is around that area like Wat Po etc, Damnoensaduak Floating Market, Ayutthaya...to reach these places, best is by taxi(for Grand Palace) or tour guide (to Floating Market/Ayutthaya coz these places is more further out of town), but please be careful with those freelance taxi driver that hanging outside hotels or shopping centers smile.gif

if you are interested in the Patpong scene, (not the shopping) i recommend you to go Nana Entertainment Plaza or Soi Cowboy, both reachable thru Nana Station or Asok/Sukhumvit Station. dun worry if u go with wife or female frens, just bring them in, especially the ladyboys bar, its quite fun!

Chatucak Market opens on Saturday & Sunday, and for Suan Lum, night only i think. i didnt visit that place on my last visit, will do it this coming one smile.gif

Good luck & enjoy your holiday! wink.gif

hi, im going to bangkok next month, i would like to know is it necessary to take any ground tour? do the ppl there speaks english? and i would like to know the signboards, is all the signboards only in thai or it will be in thai plus english? how hard is it for one to survive in bangkok without ground tour....as i prefer walking around myself but then im scared that there wont be any english signboards at all and it would be hard getting around
*
yes, especially in tourist spot, they can understand english, just use simple english will do, some even can converse in cantonese & mandarin, depends on the area. and yes, all their road signboards, trains, also in english.

it's very convenience to travel yourself around bkk with taxis, trains, or other public transports, just go back pages to check out those famous places to visit...good luck & enjoy your trip! wink.gif

i would like to know does bangkok hotels allow more than 2 ppl in the room? as in can i squeeze 4 ppl into a normal superior(twin single beds) room?

cos im on a budget and im scared that bangkok is particular about how many ppl is in the room ....

thanks in advance
*
im just afraid the hotel will consider them as an extra guest, and will charge some bahts per person, depends on hotels

but how much is your budget for hotel per night, if u dont mind about the condition, then u can get it as low as 700 baht per night shared by 2 person

one more thing, where would be a safe place to stay?
preferably near popular areas and such
thanks alot

all the hotels/inn are safe place to stay, dont worry, even the budget hotel's security is good
stay in places that near their skytrain/mrt station is the best

or take a package in any travel agencies to save all the headache smile.gif

on top of this, what are the nice places to visit?

Grand Palace, Floating Market? How about those ahqua show?

also thinking of the boat cruises.... any recommendation on what to enjoy in bkk? rclxms.gif
*
should visit those places like floating market & grand palace, but its very commercialize la, all need to pay, im not not wrong, to enter the grand palace, u need to pay 250 bath per person, for floating market the genuine 1 is in damoensaduak(something like that), distance is like around 1hour from the hotel area i recommeded and to get on the boat, u have to pay another 1500baht!

boat cruises im not sure, anyway, beside shopping and visiting their temple, and some thai massage, i think nothnig else to do there...smile.gif
