

KUALA LUMPUR: A father of two was killed when his vehicle lost control smashing into a divider which penetrated the driver's side at the KM15 of the New Pantai Highway (NPE) this afternoon. In the 2.17pm incident, the 36-year old man behind the wheel of a Perodua Alza was with his daughters aged six and three and his sexagenarian mother. The man succumbed to his injuries due to crashing into the divider which punctured through his body. His three-year old who was believed to be sitting behind him was badly injured and is still unconscious. City Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Azizan Ismail said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. "During the incident, the divider which the victim had crashed into, penetrated the driver's side from the back which then went through him causing his death," he said. Azizan added that the deceased's mother who was in her 60s and his toddler only sustained minor injuries as they were seated at the passenger's side which was not affected by the divider "However, the baby is still unconscious due to serious injuries caused by the crash," he said. All four were brought to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
