hi, I would like to ask the pros here whether I should get go pro hero 4 silver/black or sony as200??
please giv me some advice.
The thing I am worry is I might seldom use it like if I am cycling or travelling only will used it.
I feel like if I get gopro hero 4 black is kind of waste if I not really use it frequently, because the device itself is not cheap already. pls giv me some advice. Many thanks. smile.gif

hi, i had this dilemma, so heres my opinion, i bought the GP4 Silver, it is superb !, the only downside for it is the battery life, it can only stay recording for 1-2 hours fully charged, other than that its a great device.

That's normal battery duration for hero 4 silver. My previous hero 3 black only record around 1 hour 20min. Glad my hero 4 silver can record a bit longer plus can see the view on lcd icon_idea.gif

use long cable and put powerbank inside your back pack smile.gif that what i would do.. using a gopro is about versatility.. unless u wanno go surfing or diving can invest on battery bacpac.. imagine diving for 2-3 hours blink.gif hahah..

ps: i dunno whether hero 4 silver can accept a bacpac module or not.. sweat.gif

to me, the image stabilization is minor, because GP4 Silver are build for sports, and sports requires alot of movements, based on the video clips GP4 silver shows, i never see any instability on the video captured, even when the GP4 Silver is mounted on animals, it still gives out a stabilized video. So yeah =X

here is what gopro fanboy says about sony...
the recording angle are small, due to the image cropping used for image stabilizing. (same thing like pspslim said, stablizer is useless)
the video looked soft (well, from all the cropping stabilizer algorithm, image tend to drop in quality)

here is what sony fanboy says about gopro...
their video look like you are sitting on the waasasasshhihihiing maccchhhinneeenneneeneee.... (i watched side by side comparison of bike ride video, it is DAMN obvious!... well, thats because its side by side comparison... if u watched it without comparison, u wouldn't know the differences, the feeling is like one person handheld a video cam vs one person using glidecam - floating feel)
thier color is so dulllllll and washed out, requires a lot Post processing. sony straight out can use.

but, if you have intention to use it at night.... let it be as for video camera purpose or riding.... sonyas200 will win a mile.

as for batterylife... its normal... building smaller and smaller, battery get small too. afaik, gopro has external battery pack direct connect to extent its life... i have not seen sony has it yet (correct me if im wrong)

i just share what i know... i might be wrong in some aspect point of view.
edit: sidenote: sony stabilizer can be off to gain back the full angle for recording.

Well i'm GP4 Silver user and yes your point is right.
Even on slowly walking the video captured looks very shaky.

Silver edition wih lcd touch at the back really helpful and user friendly especially for someone like me who always curious wanna check immediately at the picture after shoot.

In terms of audio and video quality i am very happy. Compare to my hero 3 black, hero 4 silver picture quality look sharper.

For the shaky part, train your hand or body to move gently while recording video or just use gimbal.
