Hi, I'm going to travel oversea and am planning to get a local prepaid SIM card upon arrival since I don't intend to turn on data roaming abroad.

To my understanding, ones must have an unlocked phone in order to use local prepaid SIM cards abroad. Since I bought my phone (model: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N-7100) from Maxis under 1 year contract 2 years back, I would like to check with you whether my phone is locked by Maxis. If it is locked, please kindly advise how to unlock it before my taking off to oversea.

fastest way to check if it's unlocked, is to borrow someone's sim card which is not on Maxis and put it into your phone and see if it works.
