MyRepublic announces nationwide 1Gbps symmetrical UFB for SMEs

ISP MyRepublic is announcing a New Zealand wide enterprise grade 1Gbps symmetrical UFB service at mass market pricing for small and medium-sized businesses, starting at $499.99 for fibre broadband with unlimited data.

"Businesses were prioritised in the UFB rollout, yet they"re under-represented," says MyRepublic managing director Vaughan Baker. "Big business has had 1Gbps connections for a long time, but from today SMEs can take advantage of those same connection speeds."

APAC is surging ahead with ultra-high speed broadband, with Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan ranked by ITU (International Telecommunication Union) as being in the Top 5 globally for average peak connection speed. "New Zealand needs to be more ambitious, to get itself into the top 10 and achieve a credible global ranking."

"As at June 2015, fibre connections made up 5 percent of all broadband connections (up from 2 percent in 2014), and the market share of fibre connections is increasing. Compared with other countries in the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), New Zealand"s fibre connections were still below the average value of 17 percent." The data also shows that today 33% of the subscriptions have no data cap and average consumption is 45GB per household connection. The company claims to sign up 300 to 400 new fibre broadband subscribers on a daily basis.

According to the press pack distributed MyRepublic is planning to launch Australian operations in March 2016 with Malaysia following as well.
