Hi guys... four of my friends and me are travelling to Japan for 7d6n next year January (its gonna be cold!) and are looking for accommodation at Tokyo for the second night because first night gonna stay in airport. Anyone has some cheap accommodation recommendation around Shinjuku/Tokyo area?

Much appreciated!

Shinjuku no cheap accommodation. all above RM300++
when you say cheap, pls mention your budget range too la

Silly me.. I forgot to include that haha.
Budget around rm400-500 (keeping it rm100 per person)
In that case are there any places with cheap accommodation that would be near to the subway?

I would recommend sakura hotel ikkebukuro. Its a guesthouse but they have private rooms too. Rates are good.

last time i stayed at Nishi Shinjuku Hotel Mystays. Very near JR Shinjuku station and it was convenient for me since I had JR pass and I also need to travel to alot places. Room rate was RM300 for two pax per night. If this is your first time to Japan, well, i suggest you stay at a happening area. Shinjuku is just so bright at night and so many ppl to see and so happening!  brows.gif

Thank you first for suggesting that but it seemed that its not available during my stay there (and its quite expensive too!) sweat.gif

You have to buy at Malaysia using RM or CC only.
How can you using Yen at Malaysia?
JR rail Pass you brought at Malaysia just a Exchange Order. Later Reach Japan have to used this Exchange Order change it into JR Rail Pass at Japan Airport // Major JR Station at Travel Service Center.

You have to show them Passport + Exchange Order + Fill in a application form

This is the Exchange Order that buy at Authorize Travel Agency at Malaysia.

Hi guys, another question, I have...

Based on Hyperdia there is a shinkansen train (Hikari 493) that departs from Shin-Yokohama straight to Hiroshima but the info is not same as japan-guide.com website (need to change line as the last station for Hikari ends at Okayama). Should I refer directly to Hyperdia for more safer reference?

Yes. You need do one transfer.
From Tokyo to Shin Osaka are belong Tokaido Shinkansen. From Shin Osaka to Hakata are Sanyo Shinkansen. The only train run fully are "Nozomi" class only.

Some Hikari exteded journey to Himeji, some to Okayama.
Mostly stop at Osaka.

Hey thanks for your info! I realized they are of different line but this still confuse me a little. I check their shinkansen timetable for westbound (here) and look for H493 (Hikari 493) and found that the last stop is Hiroshima. Is it they have a single journey everyday that is special from Shin-Yokohama to Hiroshima?

The time table you get from JR official web then can be trusted.
Since the train was so early in morning. I suggest you buy the ticket one day early.

ya weh like 6am, but I will travel from Shinjuku > Shibuya > Kikuna > Shin Yokohama then only to Hiroshima early in the morning like 5am (5.01 to be exact). I will be using JR pass so I dont need to buy the ticket one day early right... biggrin.gif
