hey mich,

saw that you are going nozawa onsen. would like to ask if you would recommend any ryokans or hotels with kashikiri? I have did some digging but cant find much on nozawa onsen for kashikiri.

I am still torn between nozawa and nikko yumoto.

I will be going from Osaka - Kyoto - Nagoya - Tokyo.
15 days trip.

Thanks!

hahah you can use this website.

http://www.kashikiri-onsen.com/

very informative. the only obstacle i am facing now is that i am hoping to be able to catch snow in the onsen towns during end of march.

kashikiri + snow + outdoor view.. fantastic smile.gif
it will be a gamble to try to get snow.

wei, i'm going end March too...whats your date? Go for the rotenburo lor
*
March 20 - Apr 4.
I love the Rotenburo la , but still cant accept the super onsen mentality where u dont need to bother about anyone looking at you.

I am going to be a first time for onsen, hence why the search for kashikiri onsen. There are loads of nice kashikiri onsen smile.gif just difficult to find one that ticks all the boxes.

I'll be in Nozawaonsen on 19-21 March  smile.gif
You are a guy or girl?
*
guy la, i going with my wife. Honey Moon, wedding is this year Sept hahaa..

Nozawa is nice, but the onsens are not really people centric. Nozawa is more of a place where people go to ski mostly and the onsen is there to help them relax.

http://www.heikenosho.co.jp/access/index.html
this is a very very very very nice onsen, all onsens are built on a stretch of a river, all are private onsens with a view.
they have more than 10 onsens for you to experience and no additional fee to book it.

But this is deep inside Nikko. rclxub.gif

Anyone here booked Airbnb before?
Can I know how to process?
Need full payment for booking? or can just reserve?
*
yes you need to pay in full, but it goes to airbnb first. After you have completed your stay, it will be credited to the host.

Please check on cancellation policy, there is moderate, flexible and strict.

in all three options, airbnb fee is not refundable.
whilst the percentage ,please check in airbnb website.

also biggest hint to you, would be to do more reading on the products before you ask. If you have read, but do not understand thats a different matter. If you have not even read about it, then it is what we call lazy.

Hope this helps.

ya lo, tht time dono wan go where yet, im laggard, damn! do u think still have chance to book cheap ticket for march?  doh.gif
*
u can always try different combination of dates. maybe there still will be.
but u should ramp up your planning if you really would like to go during cherry blossom.

Accommodation pricing also goes up accordingly in that season.

So the earlier the better.

I will be in Tokyo for 7 days.
Then making a day trip to Kawaguchiko and Hakone.
Should I get Suica or JR Pass?
notworthy.gif
*
both different items wor sweat.gif

suica is just a convenient way to board trains without lining up to buy tickets each time round.
JR pass is another thing altogether.

since i would like to do good in this thread.
I would advise, if you would be only going around Tokyo and Hakone area.

Suica + Hakone travel pass is enough.

JR pass never pays off if you dont roam far enough cross country.

with this info, i decided to drop the 3days subway pass(1500Y) and just use Suica.

regentkid, for my travel to >>

kawaguchi/mt fuji(day 1), disneyland(day 2), nikko (day 3), is it best to take 3-days kanto area pass Y8300? any cheaper alternative?

gotemba PO(day 4) by express bus Y2880 seperately?
*
if you extend your nikko trip to two days, this can be potentially worth it.

So basically Suica is like our touch n go? It doesn't actually save money only saves time?
*
Yes that's right. No savings, at u would need to pay a certain amount to buy the card but it will be refundable when u return the card at the end of your trip.

If you are going to hakone, use the hakone free pass.
If going to Nikko, the Nikko Tobu pass is good.

Basically going as a tourist in Japan will open up so much possibilities for all kind of passes but all these passes usually require you to make long trips to get the value back.

Even unlimited metro in Tokyo will not pay off unless u decide to move around the city at least a minimum of 5 times a day and with the many different operators of some lines in Japan.

The metro pass might not pay off as you may need to take one big round to get to point a to point b just cause of the unlimited thing where else if you pay a normal fare. U may half your journey time as there is a more direct train.

For visitors to Tsukiji Market who are specifically looking for a sushi meal, you could join the queue for a few hours at Sushidai or Daiwa Sushi (where nigiri sushi sets start from ¥3000).........or alternatively walk for 5 mins to Katsura Sushi @ 2 Chome-15-4 Tsukiji where the queue's are much more reasonable and the lunch time deal is a big steal. I paid ¥1050 for 11 pieces of fresh nigiri sushi. There's a slightly cheaper ¥950 set that has 9 pieces of nigiri sushi. Dinner time prices at Katsura Sushi start from ¥5000.

I am going next year and this was on the plan. tongue.gif now you leak out maybe the line longer?
haha thank you for sharing.

Sifu, have you tried their nidan-chirashizushi set?

Kindly recommend me equally wallet friendly restaurants. My wallet would appreciate it.

My wife's favourite restaurant in Shinjuku is Nakajima at B1F, Hihara Bldg, 3-32-5 Shinjuku. Michelin Star set lunches at ¥800-900.

thank you for this tip, this is a very nice tip especially if you are being careful with budget but still want to enjoy some good food.

Do you have any more tips for these?
Thank you in advance if you can share more bro!

I wish I had more tips to share. The rest of the places I visited last July were not as wallet friendly as you'd wish. I'm visiting Tokyo again end Nov and I'll update here if I find some good deals. Cheers.

Hi,
I wish to ask whoever went to Disney Sea before.
I know there is fast pass to get. So my question is
Is the fast pass can select the time? Like on 10am, i go to the fast pass machine and pick the time at 6pm. Is it possible? Or they only show the next show/ride time only?
Please advise.
*
if i am not mistaken, fast pass is like a lottery ticket.

basically you go to the fastpass machine and see which time slot do you get. Lets say they give u 3pm, u have to come back at 3pm at that ride and go to the fastpass queue.

to maximize fast pass. sometimes you have to see how many hours block u can get fast pass.

there is the guide online, i read on it before. I am only going in march. so i have not copied off the internet yet.

Thanks for the info!
So I will use by Plan 2.
*
download the park map, check which rides has FASTPASS option.

Go and google about the ride, see if it is worth your time to get there and get the fastpass or not.
