QUOTE(terryykf @ Sep 1 2015, 02:34 PM) Initially I will be spending the whole trip (9/5-15/5) staying in Osaka, and do a 2 days day trip to Kyoto. some r advertise in booking.com, rakuten.com etc. some may only advertised in Japanese website. But, after some discussion with friends, they suggested to spend 2 nights in Kyoto. So, the new plan is: 9/5/2016 arriving Osaka (KIX) at 10:30pm, find a nearby hotel/capsule hotel to rest. 10/5/2016 head to Kyoto and stay 2 nights there 12/5/2016 head back to Osaka and stay with a house booked via Airbnb anyone had experience capsule hotel in Osaka before? no really cheap. closed to main train station in the city, come with the sauna, spa pool (depends on the hotel) shared computer terminal, free wifi, the bed come with the tv, free toiletry (toothbrush, shaving cream etc). open shared bathroom. no issue on cleanliness. the 1 that I stayed only got guys but were serviced by the pretty reception lady. some may provide free breakfast. they may not have the proper luggage room...the luggage may be kept in the reception open space and locked using cable lock in terms of socialising with other traveller, hostel environment is much better. if u just want to try for curiousity, can also try love hotel like what some1 say here. manga café is another interesting place for short terms stay. |

QUOTE(akira de aimbuster @ Sep 28 2015, 01:09 AM) This wasn't in my consideration until you mentioned it. I will plan and see if there's any attractions in the mentioned areas that attract me rakuten travel is another good site. Will take that into consideration since I have too many days to spend, although I prefer to visit natural heritages like shrines. Thanks. Ya, I am considering it. Thanks. --------- Just wondering, is there any good platform besides Agoda to look for accommodation? I prefer booking.com > agoda b'cos price is on net basis. what we is see is what we will pay. other no so normal type of accommodation to consider in japan are capsule hotel, manga café and love hotel. can give it try for curiosity purpose....manga café & love hotel are not advertised in the hotel booking website. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2025.html This post has been edited by adwan: Sep 28 2015, 09:22 AM |

QUOTE(Jazzing @ Oct 19 2015, 01:42 PM) sifu sekalian, 4 those without jr passes....Am travelling in mid nov. most of the transport from tokyo to osaka is covered. but my return flight is in tokyo. Was thinking to get a one-way shinkansen osaka-tokyo. 1. Can i buy in advance (via online)? 2. Is it advisable to buy in advance? since i read that it will be burnt once u missed it. if its empty most of the time then no point buyin in advance. 3. can use cc or only cash? quite pricey per pax (5ppl) need to carry alot of cash till the last day to return tokyo. thanks in advance. can try highway bus also. 2 compare the prices etc. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2366.html |

QUOTE(mt24 @ Oct 19 2015, 05:41 PM) u tried already? is it comfortable to sleep? i tried the 1 from wakkanai to sapporo, night bus.i am thinking of to try from kanazawa to tokyo do we have to book earlier? only got 10 pipus in that bus on that day. so my seat can recline all the way to the back to sleep since nobody sitting at my back... got on board toilet...they stop at midway for half an hour break but they don't wake up the passagers since all of us were asleep. bus quite ok for me. but of course train is more comfortable. (faster/ can walk around cabin) bus no really cheap also. 6K++ yen (night bus more expensive) if remember correctly.. different bus may have different experience, by the way. QUOTE(jefferenelee @ Nov 29 2015, 09:35 AM) Hi, sorry to bring on the currency exchange topic again as I think this is relevant to Japan's travel and also to stop more confusion. just based in the sell/ buy rate that is unfavorable to us when buy or sell foreign $$$ in any country. When you want to exchange MYR to JPY in Japan, you should look at the buying rate instead of the selling rate coz at Japan, MYR is foreign currency (外货) so the money changer is buying MYR from you. For eg: based on today's Kansai Airport's exchange rate, buying MYR is 24.59, if you want JPY100,000, you need to pay 100,000/24.59=4,066.69 which is damn expensive. I have confirmed this fact with the money changer during my recent trips to Japan as I have brought extra RM apart from JPY to Japan. At the end, I didn't make any exchange due to the higher rate, and the yen that I brought over from Malaysia was more than enough. won't wrong 1. $ changer won't give us more 1. Always less.
