so if i were to compare which method that gives us more profit (from top), is it something like this:

1) change money in malaysia (most profit)
2) use credit card (got 1 or 2% visa/master/amex admin fee)
3) withdraw money from atm in japan (most loss)
*
4) get credit card with a good cash back

just back from japan. thanks to RC sifu and others for the tips provided in this forum. due to time constraints, i will not be able to explore some places.. perhaps next round. conclusion, japan is nice but high cost of living plus our RM so low causing everything more expensive sad.gif

i feel that also if one don't know some japanese and chinese language like kinda hard as most places don't have english wordings.

as for the tips for taking shibuya crossing that RC mentioned, i found that the glass got mesh wire. not sure whether previously got or not. if taken up close pictures can see the mesh

so which one do you prefer, korea or japan?

Human Nature both have different culture and places ler  biggrin.gif for food wise i can say i prefer korea food as i'm not into raw or sushi and beef thingy. kind of wasted la for me in japan. eat mostly ramen, udon, curry rice, tonkatsu, etc  tongue.gif  while my partner so enjoying his kaiseki, sushi, beef, etc  sweat.gif

i will still wanna go explore other places of japan for their scenery hehe.. but no doubts japan have lotsa shrines. the shrines building and architecture is very nice. get to know their practice and belief although not really understand much haha..
*
biggrin.gif i am totally the opposite in terms of the food comparison

Yeah I can also buy from counter but the machine looks easier and the queue will probably also be lesser and moves faster. It would be good to have two options (machine and cashier) when the time comes to buy it.
I'm not able to confirm what time I'll take the shinkansen so I can't book in advance especially if I want a reserve seat. So I plan to buy on the spot when I reach the station.

Going in November to do some bungee jumping and paragliding. Woot!
*
i purchased shinkansen ticket on the spot at the counter on two occasions and both less than 5 minutes queue, of course not during peak hours.

Hi, would like to get some opinions:
2. If we want to take taxi from Kiyomizu-gojo area to Kyoto station about 6am morning, is the taxi easily available or needs to be book in advance? How to book a cab in Japan? Any apps like MyTeksi? How about the rate at 6am, still regular rate right?
*
get your hotel front desk to book a taxi

Haha, we will be traveling from Kyoto to Nagoya via Shinkansen Nozomi or Hikari early morning. Myself have no problem to wake up, just afraid my girl will screw up the timing and plan. Anyway, I read from a blogger said even we booked the shinkansen ticket and missed it, we can still return the ticket and book again.

And I think the ticket won't booked out coz the train schedules are so frequent like every 15 mins got one train fROM Kyoto to Nagoya. Anyhow we will go ahead and buy the tickets 3 days in advance since it can be return and re-book.
*
The question is, are you using any JR pass or you are buying a single-trip ticket? If it is the former, then yes.

You mean if reserve ticket with JR pass can returned and re-book again? But buying for single trip cannot? I thought JR pass cannot used for Nozomi Shinkansen?

Anyway, we are buying the single trip tickets and to avoid all the hassles, we will and must make it to the shinkansen station before the departure time.
*
Yes, Nozomi cannot be used with JR. With JR Pass, you can re-book. For single journey, the ticket is burnt if you miss the train.

My Okinawa trip come and go. It was a free and easy trip so only skeletal itinerary and spent most of the time lazying around. Didnt do any island hopping this time. Maybe reserve for future.

Drizzled on and off but still okay. Overall impression, people is friendlier but the local cuisine is really out. The tempura at Ou jima Island is worth a mention. Tried Blue Seal ice cream, recommended by sifus, twice biggrin.gif

Speed limit is only 40-50 on non tolled road, so that kinda take the fun out of the driving. Special lanes and the right turn rules are quite confusing too.

Overspent at Kokusai Dori as there are so many things! The okinawa theme shirts are expensive but I still grabbed few pieces as they are too pretty to miss sweat.gif

Just to confirm, the Kansai Hiroshima Area Pass can just be used at the gates and no need to exchange for ticket at the counter, right?

If you purchase the exchange order, you must exchange it to an actual pass at major JR West stations (Kyoto, Shin-Osaka, Sannomiya etc.).

Only then, this actual pass you can use it for travel. Like any pass, show it to the station staff at manned gates.
*
Ya, I mean after exchanging the actual pass. So can just use i at the gates. Thanks smile.gif

Just booked an airbnb for my hiroshima stay. No choice as my initial booking with booking.com has increased by RM300. By the way, has anyone used a taxi in Hiroshima before? Some sample fare based on departure/destination would be appreciated.

First 1.5 Km are 620Yen
Each 1km are 270Yen
