QUOTE(lcc @ Jun 30 2015, 12:25 PM)
hi everyone, just wanna ask a non thread related question here.

"I heard from friends saying that Tokyo is included in the radiation contamination area."

How true is this as my wife n i will be travelling to Osaka and Tokyo (if its safe) on Nov. We r planning to have baby next year. will this affect our future planning?

Thanks alot in advance for all your feedbacks/comments.

Except for the neighboring areas near the nuclear power plants, there is no dangerous level of radiation detected in Japan. Tokyo is NOT within radiation contamination area, as it is located over 200km (124 miles) away from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant facilities.May 29, 2015

It's up to you whether you want to go onot and take the risk. Nobody can advise you here.

If i'm alone I might be able to do it in front of stranger... but doing it in front of someone we know of, not brave blush.gif
If private onsen, will swimsuit be allowed? Not enough courage to strip naked in front of friends yet  icon_question.gif

Any tips for decent stay with private onsen except Tocen? Not so keen on AirBnb after reading some review about it last week
*
Very easy, if you go to an onsen village, there are many onsen houses. so you and your friends go to separate onsens lor, then you no need see each other naked laugh.gif

Since at Nagoya nearby. You should heading south to Matsusaka.

Matsusaka , Iseshi , Toba .....all together in one shot.....Refer Page 1 my Iseshi trip.

Matsusaka beef are Japan top 2, just behind Kobe beef rank.

Hi, just like to ask those who had been to Kyoto and Takayama in 2nd to 3rd week of November, is it cold? I read that the average temperature is between 6°C~18°C. I am reluctant to bring the down jacket as it is quite bulky. Just wondering if we can survive with just thick sweater or wear in layers. Is it just like a Genting Highland or much colder?

We have been to Korea's winter in December so I know what to wear for winter but not too sure about autumn.
*
Kyoto maybe ok la with sweater. But Takayama, the weather can really be unpredictable. What if it snows? Bring those uniqlo ultra light down jacket which can fold into very small bundle la. It can be use as windbreaker too mah. Also what if it rains? very cold one ler when the wind blows. I feel japan wind very cold cos maybe it's blowing from siberia? brrrrr.......

I have 13 nights but first night is screwed as I will arrive at KIX around 11pm.

My plan is 5 nights @ Osaka & Nara, 2 Nights at Takayama, 6 Nights at Tokyo.

What you guys think
*
Since you are going to Takayama, add in Shirakawa-go too.

Silly me.. I forgot to include that haha.
Budget around rm400-500 (keeping it rm100 per person)
In that case are there any places with cheap accommodation that would be near to the subway?
*
last time i stayed at Nishi Shinjuku Hotel Mystays. Very near JR Shinjuku station and it was convenient for me since I had JR pass and I also need to travel to alot places. Room rate was RM300 for two pax per night. If this is your first time to Japan, well, i suggest you stay at a happening area. Shinjuku is just so bright at night and so many ppl to see and so happening! brows.gif
