Passive or active speakers?
If passive speakers, what amp do you want to pair with the speakers?

i dont have an amp at the moment. so maybe active speakers would be a good choice

i really have no idea which one is better tbh but if im getting passive speakers then would it be good to be paired with Lepai LP-2020A+ (20 watt rms)

this is of course a budget setup though

honestly with 1k you don't have much options...even active bookshelves...

i'm not sure about IT brands though....not sure if Logitech or Edifier has something within what you want

I have Scandyna Micropod active speakers. But it's RM1350 lah, for a pair. It has a SUB out so you can add a small subwoofer later on.

im sure that a pair of cheap but capable passive speakers would be nicer?

paired with a budget amp i think the result would be better than computer speakers wouldnt it?

im guessing if i spend rm800 on a pair of passive bookshelf speakers and get a decent amp that will do the job right?

These speakers

Try to get some used speakers, if litmited budget. Or my advice would be save more a bit to buy better speakers. Try to get something as good and standard well regarded speakers. Good luck hunting your speakers laugh.gif

that's a healthy budget for starters

i'd look for a 2k to 2.5k budget speakers.....
depending on your taste.....ranging from KEFs, XLS, Wharfedales, B&W, Mission, MS
from the second hand markets you can look at entry level Dynaudio too

amps again.....from 2k to 2.5k....Marantz, NAD, Audio GD..top up abit perhaps can go for Audiolabs
used markets sometimes you can find some good stuffs as well

speaker cables at this stage....i'd go with pure OFC cables....suffice to play regardless of the brand....
Van Damme cables at this range is pretty decent....
other like Canare, Supra, Chord, Gothams.....basically they are quite good

if it was me....here's how i'm going to spend it

2k speakers
2k amp
500 for speaker stands
500 for speaker cables with proper termination....
