Aight.. thanks for explantion sir.. gonna go starpicker soon

any music i shall bring for auditioning the Q1 and Q1 mk2 to notice the differences ..LOL
*
the main differences between Q1 and mk2 is mk2 supports DSD now, so maybe can bring some DSD source there? the most practical way i can think of is to bring your own most frequent use source and see which one suit your listening habit most.

Thank you for great explaination. Btw, I just ask Starpicker about Q1 MK2, she told me that, there is chances some of Android phone may not compatible with it. My phone is Nexus 6P & Xiaomi Mi A1, I'm worried now. Hmm.
*
safest is to try it before buying it.
Someone seems to bump into this problem too with K1 and Q1 seems to work with Nexus 6.

Hi everyone, wanna ask u guys something.

I am using IE80 with my MacBook and I realize I can still listen to some hiss when playing songs or movies.

Do u guys think getting a FiiO Q1 Mark II can solve my problem?
*
Yes, it will solve the hissing problem when you connect it to macbook with USB, because the hissing means the macbook headphone jack is picking up noise from the mother board.
Thats what external soundcards/DAC are for; amplify the sound, away from noisy place like mother boards.

Is this the cheapest solution?
*
No. can try 2nd hand Q1 mk1. just found this on mudah.
q1 brand new are about RM299, but no more stock in Malaysia it seems. can be found on ali too.
Fiio K1 is not a bad choice too. RM199. Available on Starspicker and E1.
If you dont need portability and more powerful than K1, can consider Fiio E10k. RM299. Very highly regarded.

Can they drive IE80 easily?
*
IE80 is 16ohm. most of these dac mentioned are rated from 16ohm, so no prob pushing IE80.
if you are picking between K1 and E10k, E10k is must more powerful, so you can use higher impedance headphone up to 100 to 150 ohms.

I'm using Mojo with my PC and I do hear clipping sound quite often. Wonder what causes it. Any idea?
*
i do not have a mojo with me, have you tried google the problem?

But like any other USB devices, these are things you can try to find the cause of the problem:
1) try with other devices or phone, via USB-OTG or jack. If problem persist on every devices you test with, then the mojo probably needs to be return and replace.
2) Also apparently mojo has build in temperature detector and will cut off when temperature is too hot to protect itself, especially when playing and charging simultaneously. So maybe dont charge too long especially while playing?
3) what media player are you using? have you experiment with other media players?
4) apparently usb cable length more than 1.5m can cause problems too.
5) installed the latest driver?
6) have you tried other input methods, like toslink and jack?

head-fi has a thread with problems and solutions for their mojo. you probably can find something here.
Hope these helps! Good luck!

I actually didn't do troubleshooting. Haha. Kinda annoy with it when there were clipping but sometimes the clipping won't appear at all.

Maybe I'll try pairing it with my phone.

Thanks for he advices though! notworthy.gif

i wouldn't do trouble shooting if i got this problem, too lol; i'd expect it to work flawlessly too as it is a premium dac/amp.

hey guys it seems my onboard sound card limited my Edifier 2.1 speaker S350DB + I also have a beyerdynamic DX 120 IE earphone when I dont use speaker.

it is an old RealtekĀ® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC. The Spec is Here . SNR seems to be about 90-95. Means any Dac or sound card seems to be a huge upgrade for me.

Anyone can recommend me a decent Dac? or these section is for headphone only? or I should go for soundcard? I prefer to stick to hardware that require little to no driver, dont really use those software bundled with sound card.

Budget RM200-300
*
I only know how to recommend DAC-X6 lol biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Can consider Fiio K1, Q1
All these works right away via USB, no driver or software bundle required.

hey guys seems like I checked these DACs they all come with battery.

Would prefer those that do not come with battery run entirely from power instead.
*
q1 and q1 mk2 are powered by USB with rechargable battery in them
k1 and e10k are powered via usb only, no battery
dac-x6 is with power brick, no battery

thx, will look into those model. These stuff are still ok with 2.1 speaker right? because I swap between earphone and 2.1 speaker. how are they compare with Xonar DSX & Strix Soar?
*
Both Q1 has 3.5mm line out, other than headphone out, so they can connect to speakers too.
E10k has coaxial out, while x6 has RCA out. (Means they can connect to external speakers too.)
Mind you all these must connect to either a speaker amp or powered speakers, as they are not powerful enough to power speakers.
I have never tried Xonar DSX & Strix Soar so i cant comment them, but heard a lot of good thing about Xonar.

Hi guys, this will be my first DAC/AMP purchase, please help recommend

Source: PC/Note 8
Equipment: ATH-m50x, Fiio Ex1, AKG K7xx, HIFIMAN HE4XX (soon)
Requirement: Movie, Music, Cinematic BGM
Budget: Around RM600, but any more than that can be considered future upgrade

Thanks in advance!
*
If i were to start all over again, I will skip DAC-X6, use Q1 as DAC and Massdrop Objective 2 as AMP, and it will be only slightly more than RM600.

Guys, need advice, currently deciding between Chord Mojo and Sony PHA-3
with condition below:

Player: Note 8 phone
Music Source: Spotify
Fav Music: Chill Mix, Pop, KPOP, Chinese Pop
Earpiece: Sony IEM XBA-N3AP

Which DAC will be more benefit for me, pls advice, thanks in advance.
*
Note 8 sound should be ok. Is your spotify premium? If not then maybe spend that money into premium?

QUOTE(jeremycming @ Dec 7 2017, 10:07 AM)
Probably the fiio a5, but other than that, thats it...
*
A5 should be good enough, depending where you listening from.

Yup, i subscribed premium.
So u mean even if a better DAC added won't have much improvement?
*
chances are: yes because Note 8 considered premium phone, so should have ok amp, and at least better than most of the phone in the market.
best to try these dac/amp with the phone, then only you can justify spending that much on a dac/amp, or spend that money on high impedance headphone and an ok dac/amp. Some people thinks that dac/amp should be around 1/3 of the price of the headphone you pairing, that is if dac/amp is required.

I know someone using a Note 8 who said the SQ is quite bad. If you can, go to an audio shop to test with an external dac/amp yourself I think.
*
really? interesting. didnt expect a flagship can be bad. considering its expensive too.
meanwhile LG v20 and i also heard Oneplus 3/5 are not bad. and these are considerable cheaper.
