Went to racquet world at pertama yesterday afternoon, was looking for a Voltric 7 but got a Voltric 1DG instead, not as much choice as I expected.
Strung it with Bg66 Force at 24lbs. All in with a RM10 racquet bag, a free grip and the string it cost me rm160.
Just using it to play rally stroke with my kids. Still getting used to it, it's fit for purpose but maybe the I could've strung it a bit higher tension, the frame can take up to 35 lbs. Should've tried out the shoes while I was waiting for the stringing to be done. Since I'm playing outside, right now I'm just using my old tennis shoes. But I'm thinking of getting Nike air zoom ultra react for indoor use if it comes to that.

Is yonex power cushion better than Nike zoom air for cushioning on a badminton court?

Questions:
1. why do you need it strung to a higher tension? hmm.gif
2. what tension do you usually use?

Hi.
The noob in me thinks the sound when I hit the shuttle sounds terrible, like a trampoline not crisp, metallic and sharp like others.

Just strung it at 24lbs, not sure if I should go higher or lower. The shuttle will reach the baseline but slowly.

String is Bg66 Force btw.

if u want hard hitting sound, go for BG85 or BG68tn
if shuttle going baseline slowly, its either your technique or the shuttle itself.

I think your comment "like a trampoline" is due to the high repulsion of the string. hmm.gif
Different players play with different strings and different string tensions so possibly there is a sound difference.
Also, it could be the way (your technique) of hitting the shuttle which is why your sound isn't like other player's sound.

For your tension of 24lbs, I think for new player, it is more than enough. nod.gif
Usually players will start from 20lbs then gradually go up till they find the most suitable string tension for their playing style (skills?). flex.gif
IINM, factory strung racquets from Yonex are 18lbs.

Thank you guys, will play around with the tensions later. For now, I agree it's definitely technique.

Its my childhood shop....during school days. But past one year, I havent been there, since I stopped playing in Klang.

Sorry, again, my memory is failing me, but its the bigger shop, closer to the last traffic light. Their shoes are reasonably priced as well
