Bought a pair of Sketchers Shapeups ...worn sparingly only over 5 occasions. Shocked to find the soles crumbling and disintegrating!! Have never experienced this in my life with my other shoes! Contacted Sketchers and they said this is normal wear and tear. Normal?? The tracks of the soles are almost pristine , which proves no hard wearing . Paid a good RM399 for the shoes and they said that this is normal!! I am seriously doubting the quality of the shoes from Sketchers as this does not happen to other brands that I own.
Anyone else experienced this before???

That's horrible! My family has like 3-4 pair of Skechers shoes and all of them are great and definitely not something like that. I suggest you contact higher authority if possible hmm.gif

I have complained to both local and US Sketcher. They never admitted that these were old stocks, just normal wear and tear. Wanted to compensate by giving me a 35% discount voucher. What??? To dump more money into useless Sketcher shoes?? Real crooks!!

Wear sparingly....similar to my other brands of shoes, but none of the others turned up like this.

I suspect , then, that they are dumping old stocks into Malaysia market. Of course, they will not admit to this...

Thought about that, but unfortunately can't find the receipt. My point is not so much on the refund, but what type of quality shoes are Sketchers dumping to the locals and fleecing them off?? Any reputable brand will have strict quality standards plus good after sales support.. not try to fleece the consumers further with discount coupons for future purchase.

Found something new on Sketchers - they were fined $40 million for false claims on their ShapeUps! Now it starts to make sense that they were dumping these shoes in our market!

The design of these shoes are actually very good for walking but does not last long. My wife went for long walks on vacation wearing these shoes and never complain a bit unlike other shoes she had. This is a very old design.

I experienced it once when you don't wear your shoes after a long time the soles come off, this happened to me during my hiking trip back in 2008. I might not have worn the shoe for a year then wore it back and all of the sudden it gave way like yours.

Proly old stock tht was kept in storage for far too long. U can check the shoe's manufacturing date on the label (usually on the shoe's tongue), then U know la. I've had this problem with NB before, with the outsole. The outsole came off after 2 runs, they agreed to replace, then the replacement shoes also had the same problem even before it hit the road. Then I made some noise on their FB page, they agreed to replace it with a different model of the same price. I went to their store in KLCC, decided on 890v$ Baddeley edition & now I'm on my 2nd pair biggrin.gif At least something good came out of my ordeal.

The important question here is, when was it purchased? Immaterial the number of usage. And When was it last used?

Any rubber based shoe, that had not been used or ventilated for couple of months, it will crumble and disintegrate due to dryness and heat.

Well, if you have other shoes bought around the same time and with similar usage levels, it is telling when only one brand of shoes disintegrates, but not the the others.
