QUOTE(nx7010 @ Nov 1 2006, 05:27 AM) Those you mentioned are long obsolete, had Philips optic mechanism that seem bugged with reliability and longivity problems. I've heard of so many that konked out quite prematurely. Their current units have Sony mechanism (NAD also) which are certainly a lot easier to obtain spares.Getting back, Audiovega from China doesn't seem to advertise any cd player in their product offerings, only tube amps and googling about their cd player doesn't come out any results. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Nov 2 2006, 02:29 PM) There's valve or tube analog output/buffer stage for CDP. Shanling CD T-100 CD Player or Ah Tjoeb, Heart modded Marantz are some fine examples.AudioVega if its CDP does exist, would be along a similar architecture. As for the sound, only you yourself are the judge. IMHO, generally valve stage CDP's are fluid, slower pace and rhythm, warmer and IMO, best suited to solid state amplification making hifi vocals sound more musical and entertaining. If one already have a tube poweramp, adding tube CDP or evenmore a tube preamp can turn the sonics to "too tubey" and too warm..which I personally don't favor for MY kind of music being played and I could suffer easily from fatigue.
