Dear Sifu, I went to make a placement on the very last day of OCBC 13m 4.2% promotion. During account opening, I've asked the staff whether I need to shown them the SMS registration to proof my eligibility. The staff told me he is only in charge of account opening and I need to show it to the teller later when I surrender my banker's cheque for them to print me the FD Cert. After completion of account opening, all the forms were submitted to the teller by the staff and I was told to wait for them to call my name. However, the teller didn't ask for proof of the registration SMS and I too have forgotten to ask them.

If such event, am I still entitle to the gifts ? What should I do now to ensure I'm entitle to the free gifts?

Keep the sms, write in a complaint on this matter. They ignored my first letter under "feedback", and then I sent another one under "complaint" and they the banker in charged of my FD called me. He asked me why I wrote a complaint and it directed to him, guess it will affect his performance? I'm not sure about that. Anyway I told him it's not his fault but it's the stupid marketing department causing so much ambiguity. He says he will feedback to the management. But I believe if everyone starts writing in, it might help as they might seriously look into this when they keep receiving the same complaint. Moreover it also serves as a documentation that you have highlighted this before, so that you might have a point to argue later. Also don't delete your sms

Thanks for the advice. I have officially file in feedback and call-up customer service hotline. According to the customer service, so long as I have registered via SMS and I successfully did the placement bore the ecpiry of the promotion period, I will be qualified for the gifts even without showing the SMS as proof. Can trust ah ?

I read so many bad reviews about OCBC in here.

I also went to OCBC branch the other day but looks like a lot of things very fishy, whereby they have some internal documents which doesn't seem to be the same for every branch  blink.gif

Ops ! Would OCBC use this "trick" to forfeit my eligibility as the teller has "forgotten" to request for SMS registration as proof when I did the placement yesterday ? i have called customer service but they say not to worry even SMS registration was not shown ?

I can share my experience with OCBC. I saw Ringgitplus promo for OCBC FD giving free trolley bag. I signed up via Ringgit plus, and they sent me SMS to be shown to OCBC.

I went to OCBC, opened FD with RM, showed her sms, but she said no need, as long as i registered with ringgitplus, system will take care of it. Exactly how, she wouldn't know.

So I trusted her. Next day I wrote to Ringgit plus, notifying them I had opened FD but OCBC didn't want to see my SMS. They responded vaguely, with scipted reply, I can't remember. So I actually gave up.

After some time, a week or two, can't recall, Ringgitplus sent me email asking for delivery address. So I was happy that they honored what they had advertised. After a few days, I got the bag.

Now that I got the bag, I have at least 2-3 new bags unopened, still in box.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing, hopefully OCBC is doing the same honoring per what has been advertised despite the fact that they have not requested for SMS registration at time of placement.
