I already have acct with Affin. Then placed the 4.33% FD last month. No need to get any debit card. Even when I opened the SA, no card issued. For internet banking no need debit card to verify acct also (on ATM). biggrin.gif

better use e-Fixed Deposit instead.

the cost of placing a conventional FD would offset the profit from 1mth FD interest gain.

QUOTE(cklimm @ Jul 24 2015, 03:35 PM)
The best 1mth eFD in the town available on Affin online, not sure if they allows online withdrawal though
*
I did search before, looks like Affin has the highest for the 1 mth 3.25% FD. But BR's rate is 1 mth 3.4% except no PIDM.

I ended up still put in CB for 2.95%, amt xxk. Too much hassle to go to the banks (BR) just to do the 1 mth FD (back 1 mth later). Do online for the CB FD and can even call to terminate if needed. Convenience is the key. biggrin.gif

I'm think cherroy was not refering to full sovereign guaranteed deposit taking financial institions.
Off hand, I can only think of three names ie. BSN, SSPN and KWSP are Di Jamin penuh oleh kerajaan Malaysia. Please add to the list if you can think of any other name.

Read here for the limitation of PIDM. (Of course, better than nothing la)

In recent high tea hosted by BR, they claimed FD are fully guaranteed by gomen. I have posted this not too long ago. biggrin.gif

Hahaha, same as what BSN claim, you believe what u want to believe. tongue.gif

I don't place too much emphasis on PIDM protection as the sum that I put in may exceed that limit in 1 bank. BR some more no PIDM. So PIDM to me just oh yeah, has PIDM. biggrin.gif

BR claim that it is in their application form which I did not take a look.

Anyway if something happens, are u going to hold a bank to say you put it up in your website or a form ? biggrin.gif

If it is officially declared and stated in their public domain or in the receipt that your money is fully guaranteed by the government, then you have a recourse.
If nothing black and white or just by hearsay and It goes under, the FD receipt is all your have. No recourse whatsoever. Unless  gomen under no obligation decide to bail your banker out.
*
Well as I said, you believe what you want to believe. BR also claim that it is in B/W. tongue.gif

QUOTE(Nom-el @ Jul 25 2015, 04:24 PM)
Affin does not have true eFD. Affin has online FD placement only, the branch will process the request on the next working day. It is similar to Public Bank's online FD placement but Affin will send you the cert instead of asking you to collect it at the branch. You cannot withdraw the FD online.

I think it is the same as the Merdeka FD promotion. I actually went there aiming for the 4.1% at 8 months FD but the officer asked me whether I want to put longer (i.e. 4.18% at 12 months). I said yes and she processed it. Didn't asked much.....  blush.gif

I actually requested whether I can add in my existing fund and the officer said she will try to ask. I actually only had about 10k truly-fresh-from-the oven fund  sweat.gif . Turns out that they can only accept funds that was banked in for this month and not older than that. Was surprised that they can consider funds banked in that particular month as "fresh" funds.  biggrin.gif So I managed to put in a bit more not-so-fresh fund....  rclxms.gif
*
Good to know that UOB has the 12 mth 4.18%, though lower than their previous 12 mth 4.2% promo.

For UOB, I was told can add in 10k to existing "busuh" tongue.gif fund, then can go for the promo. It makes sense as most of their promo require 10k or above. biggrin.gif

*
Haha, interesting. Last time I wanted to RENTAS out matured FD, then issue cheque to place FD. The staff suggested I just add 10k and then can place FD with the matured fund (1 day still not that busuh). I did that. Maybe diff UOB branch practice differently. biggrin.gif
